A First Time Usage

I had to flash back to those times when I first used a phone. I was a small girl in my primary school then, some decades ago actually. Phones weren't much at that time and those who had one were considered as being rich. My dad was using a Motorola while my mom used a Nokia 3310. Dad hardly dropped his phone for us to touch except if he was in a good mood and most times when he wanted us to pass his phone to him from the other end, those were the times we touched his phone. He was overprotective of it.

Mom, on the other hand, would most times leave her phone to do something else and I would always use the opportunity to play with it. Sometimes, she would promise to give me if I agreed to help her with something. She would say, "I will give you my phone if you massage my legs for me" and other conditions like that and since I was so interested and addicted to her phone because of a game I love so much, I would gladly oblige and do whatever she wanted.

I love to play snake game on her phone and it was always fun keeping myself busy with it. There were two games on the phone but snake game was the one I was used to and can play very well. The snake game is all about feeding the snake with some food and the more it gets fed, the bigger it becomes and the only way I could lose in the game was if the snake meets itself and boom, I would start all over. The game would get interesting and fun when I managed to scale through the first level. The more one moves to the next level, the tougher it gets and that is what makes it sweeter to play and enjoy myself.

Sometimes, Mom wouldn't understand how serious I was playing the game as she could just ask for her phone without prior notice or reminder and if I failed to give her, it meant I would miss my opportunity next time to get her phone. So, I usually lose in the game whenever she asked for her phone unexpectedly making me eager to wait for the next time I would use it again. That was the first time I used a phone.

For the computer — that was when I had finished secondary school and dad enrolled me in a computer training centre because he wanted me to know how to use a computer for my post- utme examination that was coming in a few months at the University of Ilorin. Dad wanted me to gain admission very fast and at my young age; 15 years old.

There was this computer training centre not too far from the house and I got registered there. The owner did his best to teach me all about the parts of a computer, how to put it on, switch it off, where to place the cursor etc. The next thing he taught me was how to use my fingers on the keyboard and he did this with the help of Mavis Beacon. Oh my, I so much love this application on the computer and I had fun learning how to type with it.

I was always excited to get to the centre very early and be punctual, and when I arrived, I focused on Mavis Beacon and got myself busy with typing and placing my fingers correctly. I got corrected a lot of times but that didn't bother me as I was so much in love with the application. I only spent 3 months after which I went for my examination. I failed with 4 marks and that pained my dad because I couldn't gain an admission. Well, the computer training helped me a lot as I knew how to operate one when I got to the venue.

I could remember the only question I asked was how to switch it on because the computer was different from the one I was trained with and after that, I did every other thing myself. Operating on a computer was like magic to me and ever since then, I had been interested in owning a laptop which happened miraculously after some years.

Thanks for your time reading. Looking forward to your interaction.

I think we all started with that model of phone, and of course not remember the snake game, I still play it sometimes, by an application that I have haha, is entertaining the truth, and the world of computing, all a learning, we are still learning, greetings

Yeah, that phone model was so popular then and it was a memory on its own. We are definitely still learning about the world of computing.
So amazing.

The Nokia products were the strongest,we used to call it unshakable. I wonder why they stopped developing 🤔

Yes oo. If it falls down, nothing will happen. So strong. I haven't been seeing Nokia products for a long while now.

Not found

Your dad knew how much it cost him to get that phone then that's why he didn't want stories that touch the heart, lol.

I can't even remember the first time I used a phone or whose it was again 🤣🤣

Hahaha. Phone was expensive then too and he was protecting it to the core. Lol

Lol, I need this miracle laptop o 😁

The first time experience with gadgets is always memorable.

Hehehe. God is capable. It was indeed a miracle for me.

That's our great God 🙏

Yeah, exactly 💯

Snake game was my favorite game and I also used to play it but each time I was not allowed to play the game because my parents used to say that it's not good for a mobile playing games.
I was always interested in computer training but I never joined in any of those and I think I was lucky not to waste money for such kind of thing.

You still haven't sent this hp laptop through the delivery guy. I thought you promised to send it over now.

Nokia 3310 is actually a phone that brings back old memories. Although, I never used it in my life but then I can remember we normally use it to insult those who would buy rubbish smartphones and they they think they got the best one 😶.

I still need to keep searching for a trusted delivery guy 😄😄 when I find one, will send it immediately.
Yeah, the Nokia 3310 was the real deal back then.
Hahaha. Which one is now rubbish today? 🤣🤣🤣

Okay don't fall my hand oo 😉. The thing is rubbish now like just get down from your high horse huh !
