When I travelled last week to my aunt's place, I made sure to take along my coffee, also bought milk in a bigger refill pack to enjoy myself while at home. Initially, I wanted to take it to my hometown, of course, still have the plan as I would want my two youngest siblings to taste out of it too. I am currently at my aunt's and we planned going home together in two weeks.
Yesterday which was a weekend, after having our breakfast, I decided to stay on my phone as there was nothing to do at that time but my aunt, being the workaholic person since I have grown up to know her, for over 20 years now was busy cleaning one thing and the other.
I saw how she was stressing herself, especially with her age; she would be clocking 60 on the 21st of this month and she's still stretching herself when she could be taking lots of rest now. But no, she won't listen to anyone and most of it is how she wouldn't allow you to do her work except in such cases where she has no choice like while she is doing one thing, someone else could be doing another thing to make it easier.
For instance, in the morning, she was washing some big bowls and tending to her little farm while she instructed me to fry some bean cake and make pap for breakfast; that's something she would allow me to do and nothing else. So, after eating breakfast and still working her energy off, I asked, "Mummy, would you like some coffee?" She raised her brow and asked, "What's coffee?"
Hahaha, here comes someone who doesn't know coffee! I told her I had some coffee that I could make for her if she wanted. Out of curiosity to know how it tastes, she said yes and I switched to making coffee for the two of us.
I started by boiling some water as there was electricity. Then poured some coffee into the cups (half a spoon each) then added water before pouring some milk into them. I made sure it wasn't watery but thick for her to enjoy.
The coffee was ready and as I handed it over to her, she immediately drank all at once without sipping it slowly because she had some pending work to attend to. But I assured her the coffee was an energy booster and let her know how coffee makes me active all day to be able to do my tasks without feeling tired.
She fell in love with it and kept talking about it for some minutes, thanking me for such a sweet drink. She said it was a good one and that she liked it. I was excited too. For the first time, my aunt drank coffee. She even told me to keep the bottle of the coffee for her once I am done finishing it which I promised to keep till we meet next time.
The coffee maker, herself 😉
I was so happy that I could make something like that for her and being the first time too, she loved it.
