When we were young, we always looked forward to the holiday from school, especially towards the end of the year, because we got to travel home in our dad's car and enjoy the trip with lots of fun and sightseeing. This wasn't like we didn't have fun together as a family without travelling, but there was this difference when travelling home as a family in a car and not like boarding transport buses, which doesn't feel comfortable.
It got more interesting when mom would cook a particular meal and pack it in a big cooler with one or two plates to share and eat while on the road.
Aside from that, we always look forward to such a holiday because of the song we present as a family on the eve of both Christmas and New Year in the Church. There is this brother, like a family friend, with whom we would communicate together and choose the songs to sing. When we got home, he would come around just for us to finalise everything before going to church to dish out lovely voices; it was always something we looked forward to every year.
Everything has changed, and everyone has grown up, no more time to come together for song rehearsals. Those days are now memories, and I love it that way; though my younger siblings, including cousins have taken over, we still get to be entertained and enjoy them while representing our family.
Talking about when my holiday starts, I would say I have been on a partial holiday since after my service year ended in October, and the lesson I was doing for these kids continued until the last week of November when I'd told them no more lessons for the year.
I travelled the first week of December and branched at my aunt's place first because I have a wedding to attend on the 21st before crossing over to my hometown for the celebration proper.
I would say I have been on holiday since I stopped going to work in October, and being a blogger who works from home, I don't give myself one since I am always on the phone, and it's so flexible that I might decide not to do anything and no one would query or threaten me.
The question now is would I spend my holiday with friends or family or that I would keep working from home? Yes, I am spending this holiday with my family as I will be meeting with them very soon. Celebrating with family is much fun to me as it would be another time to keep the bond tighter and flowing. Also, I don't intend to stop my work. For someone who is always on her phone and not like waking up to go to the office, it would be easier to keep working on her phone.
What I will do is not let it take the space and time for when I should give my family. Since I would be the eldest granddaughter at home, I would be in charge of everything, i.e, making sure all the foodstuffs my sisters and I contributed to buy would be managed accordingly with nothing misplacing or being stolen because with what is going on in the family, I wouldn't want to take anything with levity hands but to make sure the foods go round everyone.
While doing that, I would be working on my phone, making posts and engaging. So, it's me enjoying the holiday with the family, watching movies and still getting to work on my phone and keep making money. That's the beauty of working from home, right? 😉
I will be the one cooking all the meals while the younger ones will be assisting me so everything can work smoothly and accordingly. That's how I would spend my holiday.
