There is this popular saying that when you celebrate other people's achievements, you will be celebrated too. This saying proves to be true everywhere as some people would be happy for other's successes. They are the real ones who never get envious of others or feel unhappy when someone else is getting promoted while they are still behind.
There we have some ill ones among us who get pissed, angry, jealous, envious and revengeful because others are getting ahead of them. I call them ill people because that is what they are. Like, how do you feel sad when you see someone else getting to the top? Don't you realise everyone's time is different? Not all people will understand this but to do the evil in their mind.
Those who have achieved great feat worked hard for it, but this doesn't mean those who haven't achieved it yet didn't work hard, timing is the key here. But not everyone wants to listen to this. They also want to be in the same place at the exact time with others.
There was an experience that relates to this which happened where I work this morning. The students were already done with their morning assembly and were off to their classes when all of a sudden, the vice principal called them back for information to be passed across. Initially, we had thought the announcement would be made later during one of the long breaks in some weeks' time, but plans changed and they wanted to do everything as quickly as possible.
A lot of Nigerians know that today begins the West African Examination Council Examination for the Senior Secondary School 3 who would be passing out soon from school after the end of their exams. It was time for newly appointed school prefects who would act as representatives to the school management. Since the SSS 3 students were going, they sat down among themselves and selected a few students for different posts in the school, from the senior prefect, to labour prefect, down to the school timekeeper.
None of the students knew who would be appointed and so, everyone was alert and silent when they passed the information that they would call out the names of students who fit each role.
I was standing behind the students on the assembly ground and listening to the names of the selected ones. Some whose names were called were absent today leaving others to jubilate, though some got shocked hearing their names as they never expected to be called out.
I noticed one of the students was celebrating, clapping and cheering those whose names were called out. I could see the excitement on her face as she kept shouting, "Yes, that's my friend being called. Wow.." this excitement continued while she kept jumping feeling happy for them.
This student was celebrating others and didn't know she would be called. Eventually, her name was mentioned, and she felt surprised too and I could see the expression on her face. This act struck me and I decided to share this with us here.
If you don't celebrate others, no one will celebrate you. Sometimes, we might not know what good is coming for us in the process of cheering others up but because of our jealousy, we ruin things and that would deprive us of getting the good thing meant for us. It is not good to feel sad because others are being called for greatness, but it becomes good to remain happy and celebrate them as this will make things turn out good for you.
Our timing is different and we shouldn't feel bad because someone's achievement came earlier than ours, it is a time to be patient while waiting for our turn instead of planning something wicked in our hearts which can boomerang and make us regret our actions.
