I haven't taken time to explore some areas since I arrived at my aunt's place 12 days ago, except when I need to go on an errand to some miles to get stuff. On Thursday, I decided to take a stroll to a different location and I thought of where to go, no place was coming into sight, and for someone who doesn't love going out, exploration became a thing so difficult, and I kept feeling unhappy till in the evening when I determined to step out anyhow.
First off, I was in the bathroom when my aunt suggested we eat sweet potatoes the following day because she saw a young girl hawking around the area, I gave her money to get it while I told her of my plan to stroll out after my bath. Not long ago, the dog in our compound suddenly unchained itself and ran downstairs and chased the young girl whose goods fell off and the dog took one of the dried fish she was selling alongside and ate. The owner had to pay for it while beating the dog like a human being. It was funny at the same time too.
After taking my bath, I stepped out and started walking towards a street I hadn't gone through since I had been here. There were lots of houses that had trees and flowers and also, some lands were left uncompleted. The place was filled with bushes and grasses, I was also careful not to let the thorns hurt me.
A few days ago, I saw some students fetching water from this tap, and I appreciate the generosity of the owner in providing this basic amenity to those living around the area. Most people here complain about water, and the only time they come here to get free water is when the power is restored, and water is being channelled into the tanks.
Her tank
My aunt has been lucky as she has a big tank that she fills water in. Once the light is on and has pumped water, she will switch to hers and pump water for a while, then switch back to the building tanks where everyone gets to have their shares in their apartments. But whenever there was no light and there was no water, my aunt would enjoy her own tank of water while also locking it because she was always scared of going outside at her age to fetch.
While I continued my stroll, I found this shop which I never knew existed. I only know of two from the other side of the road, and it never occurred to me that there could be one closest to the house. I guess strolling out was a good one for me.
However, my aunt said they had just started selling. At the sight of it, I remembered not holding any money on me, and it could have been a lucky one if I had so I could get what had been on my mind instead of stressing myself going out again after returning back from my evening stroll.
Then it occurred to me that I could do a transfer since my phone was with me. I went there and asked if they accept transfers, which they do, and that relieved me. I asked for a few things that cost me $1. I love that there were lots of items to get without the stress of going miles as I used to, and this is just located very close to the house where I could just step out and get things for myself.
Here are the things I bought; the Viju drink is for my aunt while the indomie, egg and groundnuts are mine. I spent some time outside and it was like an exercise needed just to stretch myself out and enjoy the stroll. Also, found a shop closer that could make my walk less stressful too.
