My Go-To Music.

There are countless definitions to music but all are based on how they make you feel, the meaning of music to an individual depends on how they feel and interpret it. For me, to choose a favourite music is not complex at all because I actually do not have a favourite music per say, I just stick to a particular music per time depending on the lyrics and style (genre of the music). My music are carefully selected, sometimes I could just create a new playlist, add fee songs to it and give it a name: I don't do this so often but I do them when I need certain kind of music to stir up a particular feeling or atmosphere that I desire. For example, I can arrange songs in a playlist because I want to stir up an atmosphere of gratitude: could decide to select just gospel worship songs or praise songs. I make sure the next song in line won't distrupt the flow or tempo of the songs.

It's quite weird that I have never had a favourite song like many people do. I can stick with a song for a while, enjoying it on repeat for days then move on to another, it doesn't last much. I prefer to play music based on my mood. I thank God that music exist because what else would we be use to regulate our feelings. Music just has its own unique way of communicating with our soul, it can change atmospheres, ignite something that wasn't even obvious.

The song I have on repeat at the moment is one by Nathaniel Bassey Baba We Thank You. It's all about gratitude to God, a sincere one. The lyrics are simple but captures parts of my life where God has showed up and has been showing up for me. Have you ever listened to a sing and you feel like the artiste sang what you have in mind or what you've been through ?. Yeah, that's how I feel each time I listen to the song. Other times, I play the song when I am worried, when I don't have any word to say, when I'm confused, stressed or pained. I believe in giving thanks to God in all things.

As a musician, a bass guitarist, my choice of music has to be of quality because I play music every week and have to stay updated on new songs. I play anything gospel related and few secular that the lyrics are moral. I am still young and unlike many youths, I don't enjoy hip pops and many secular songs especially when they have anything immoral in the song, maybe lyrics: I don't even listen to them because of how I grew up and the people and songs I grew up with. My parents never approved any secular song that promote immorality. Even after growing up to the age that they could not decide what I listen to anymore, I can't just bring myself to enjoy some certain music. The beats and instrumentals could be great but as long as the lyrics ain't my thing, I'd rather not listen or vibe to it beat. I prefer not to play a song I would not get lost into, I mean, music is to be enjoyed through the beats, instrumentals and lyrics.

I also do not have a favourite artistes. I just know artistes that produces my kind of songs. The recent artiste I got to know about was Anendlessocean: been hearing is songs everywhere for more than a year but never thought of knowing more about the songs until my friends made me feel like I was missing out a lot. Gave him a try and it was beautiful blasting his songs on a bluetooth music player.
