Today I want to tell you about a masterpiece movie named Akira which is very old but the animation and the quality of the movie make you feel like it's just come out. I think you will have very great time seeing this movie.
Akira's story begins in 2019 in the dystopian city of New Tokyo which has been rebuilt after being destroyed by a nuclear explosion. The main character Kaneda and his friend Tetsu are members of a biker gang. One day after an accident Tetsu becomes involved in a secret government project, where he awakens with supernatural powers.
The government's control of this power was previously tested on three other children who were now more powerful than normal humans but managed to keep everything under control but Tetsu's power was too much it went out of control. These three boys also try hard to control Tetsu's powers. But Tetsu had become so arrogant of his powers that he didn't realize he was about to wreak havoc.
Meanwhile, the military and government try to stop Tetsu as they know that if this power gets out of control it could bring terrible danger to the city and mankind. Tetsu gradually increases his powers and becomes confident that he can destroy everyone.
Tetsu's dangerous transformation causes his friend Kaneda to worry. Kaneda tries to save him but Tetsu spirals out of control. At this time a mysterious force known as Akira is known. Akira was once such a supernatural child, whose powers caused the previous destruction of Tokyo. And Tetsu's power is becoming as terrifying as he is.
Tetsu's strength and humanity are lost, and his conflict with Kaneda reaches its climax. In the end Tetsu's powers rise to destroy New Tokyo but Akira's reawakened powers stop Tetsu and save the city from destruction once again. But after this devastating event, a new reality is created, where the three boys, Tetsu go into a new existence of sorts.
Talking about anime, it shows the abuse of power and the harmful side of technology to society and the destructive side of mankind. And here are more aspects of free will, science and ethics.
Akira's animation seems timeless. The image of the hi-tech city and the advanced technologies it portrays are so advanced than the times that it seems unreal to imagine. When I first saw it, I wondered if it was really a period animation.
