We, my clients and I, arrived at the back road leading to the monkey forest around 4 o'clock in the afternoon. We wanted to visit both the monkey forest and a popular cafe nearby. This cafe was famous on social media for its beautiful, colorful food.
The cafe was near the monkey forest back entrance. We we walked along a road with houses and cafes decorated with penjors (decorative bamboo poles). Soon after, we found the Blend Cafe.
Blend Cafe was small, having only a few tables inside and outside. It had pretty orchids and purple flowers in front of it, pots hanging on light blue walls. Friendly girls welcomed us and helped us find seats.
Colorful Smoothie at the Blend Cafe
I saw other cafe guests with colorful food on their tables. A strange thought flashed in mind, the more colorful the food is, the tastier it is.
We sat down and looked at the menu. I picked a spirulina mint smoothie, while my clients chose chocolate and goji berry smoothie. They also ordered water, purple tea, and hot chocolate.
In about 20 minutes, our orders arrived looking bright and tasty! My spirulina mint smoothie was full of flavors like banana, kale, mint, and spirulina. It had fruit slices on top like watermelon and pineapple along with flax seeds.
The smoothie tasted very good. This was my first time trying colorful smoothie served in a bowl like this. I must say I quite enjoyed it. After finishing up we paid the bill before heading out towards the monkey forest nearby.
Ubud Monkey Forest Back Road Adventures
We saw monkeys on the road to the monkey forest. They climbed fences and went into the shops. We also saw a vendor chased a monkey away from a bakery.
The road lead us to the back entrance of the forest, but the gate was closed. So, we walked around the forest on a narrow path leading to the front side. I have never walked this path, and I quite like it. We walked on the path near monkeys and motorcyclists.
When we got inside, there were many visitors in the monkey forest. We still had chances to see relaxed monkeys that lived happily because locals fed them three times daily with sweet potato, banana, and sweet corn. The forest was about to close at 6 PM that we walked faster to get inside.
There are 1,300 monkeys living in different parts of the forest as neighbors. Usually, they live well together unless one or two trespasses another's territory which can lead to arguments or fights.
We walked into the monkey forest along a path. In the center, we saw monkeys playing together, eating sweet potatoes, or swimming in small pond located inside the forest.
We kept walking to a temple in the middle of the forest. Next, we crossed a bridge with a beautiful view of a river and a huge banyan tree with roots hanging on it.
By 6 o'clock, a staff in charge in the forest told us it was time to leave because they were closing for visitors. So, we left and continued our journey somewhere else. Thanks for reading!
