Betty's Revenge

Aside from Mondays, I also hate Saturdays because it's the only day my Mom sees fit for her sanitation. I mean Mom can make you work all day because it's Saturday. The most annoying thing is that she wouldn't give anyone food until you're done with the task at hand.
Everywhere has to be clean and neat. Exactly as she likes it and do you know the most annoying part? She just sits and gives the instructions without doing anything. Yes, she's my Mom but the least thing as to fixing her shoelace is a real big deal for her on Saturdays.
“Betty, come over here and help me get this remote” Mom called out to me.
“This is just her favorite and annoying errand because the remote lies two centimeters from her but now she must call you to come pick it up and give it to her. “Oh no Mother, not the remote errand again”. I said to myself as I heaved and went to meet her.
After the tiresome day, I went outside for a stroll. On my way home I bumped into my schoolmate who happens to be a bully in our school. This sight of him in a short and unkempt singlet made me burst into laughter. I laughed out so much in a manner that I made sure he was pissed off with it.

“Hey, what's it that you're laughing at huh?
Do you dare to laugh at me?
“Of course, I'm laughing at you, I mean who wouldn't laugh at this sight of yours? Mr bully in school and dirty at home” I smirked and walked away as I kept on laughing.
I'm very certain that whatever I did out there would upset him a lot but I couldn't care less that he and his group of friends had troubled my classmates so much. I was so overwhelmed to see the weird look on his face.

Paul and his group of friends have always had a way of troubling the students in school and the school authority never does anything about it except for our compound Master and this is simply because his parents hold a massive share and growth of the school. Just the other day he came to school late and just like other latecomers he was made to pick the dirt but how could he do that when he's made all the junior students his maids? Since the day he made my friends get punished in school for his mistakes I had promised myself that I would deal with him the next time we ever cross paths and that was exactly what I did.
It was 11:45 am the exact time our break time starts in School.

I got my pocket money and headed for the school canteen. On reaching there the cue was very long but since it's first person to get there gets served I had to wait and join the cue until it was my turn. Finally, it was my turn and I bought and turned to leave. I didn't want to go to the classroom because it was always noisy during break and more so my friends were under punishment during the break hours for coming late to school. That's why I thought of going to sit at our field sit-out where there's shade and breeze. On my way there, Paul and his group of friends bumped into me on purpose and the bag of snacks I bought fell off. I didn't say anything but as I bent to pick it up Paul smashed everything with his foot and this made me mad.

“Hey”, I yelled at him.
“What did you do that for huh?
They didn't say anything but just stood there and laughed.
I was so furious that I almost cried but I had to control myself because I knew they were trying to spike me up so I'd get into a fight with them.
Fortunately for me while we were standing there, our compound Master came to get snacks at the canteen and saw the whole scene.
He asked what had transpired there and I narrated everything to him, he then said I should go back to my class and that he would deal with them. But I cried that I was hungry and I needed to eat something so I would get stomach upset. There and then he gave me a thousand naira note to get any snack and keep the change, then he asked me to suggest a punishment for them.

I looked at them, wore a victory smile and told my labor master they should do the Squat and fly punishment. Immediately I said that they started apologizing because that was the most painful punishment in school. But I couldn't care less I glared at them and said. “Remember I promise I will deal with you the next time we cross paths, well this is it. If you try troubling me again it'll be worse” I laughed and left the scene.

Thank you @theinkwell
Pls what exactly I'm I not doing well so I can work on it and also learn from my mistakes.

Hi, @quan45. Here are some recommendations for you, as you write stories that you post in The Ink Well:

  • Read the article that we provide at the top of all of our creative nonfiction writing prompts with tips for writing creative nonfiction.
  • Read the articles in our Catalog of Storytelling Tips. This will provide some excellent assistance with learning how to develop a story. In particular, read the article on the story arc. (These tips apply to both fiction and creative nonfiction.) In your story above, you wrote two different scenes, but they are not tied together, so the story arc is missing.
  • Check the quality of your writing before posting. In particular, be sure to provide paragraph breaks in between each paragraph, and be sure you include quotation marks at the end of each dialogue segment. These kinds of details make a big difference in the quality of a story, and the experience for the reader.

We hope these tips are helpful! Good luck and keep writing.
