I just couldn’t help but laugh crazily in my head at the sight of this edition two topic, i guess this is as a result of the thought that came to my mind while reading the prompt description. Two crazy afrobeat artists popped up in my head the moment i was reading the description, and the funniest about these two artists is that they both are the best definition of unethical, unhealthy, and unholy, the lyrics of their songs is not just something to write home about, still yet they are loved by the crazy masses 😂…
I know the question you have in your head and are about asking me right now is ”who are those two Nigerian artists?”. Well, the names are coming, and I’m sure one of the names won’t be new to some of my Nigerian friends because he is well known for his music style and unhealthy behaviors, the first artist is PORTABLE( a.k.a Zazu, Ika of Africa), i know some of you saw this name coming 😂…
In my opinion this second artist is the Pro-max version of Portable, though he is not a social media troublemaker like portable but then his personality, music style and song lyrics are nothing to write home about. At-least there are some of portable songs that can be recommended to people because some of his song lyrics are mostly directed to either our government or to someone who has done him wrong…
This other artist is a very rogued person, his song lyrics correspond with his dress style in the past, now he has tone it down a bit and now dresses a bit more sensible, he goes by the name BAHD MAN NIKO, there is nothing good about this artist’s lyrics, his song can’t be recommended to a sane person, his music lyrics are just too unhealthy to both adults and children. Those who enjoy some or all of his songs are not normal and they need God, including me 🙈. Well, that was in the past, I stopped listening to his songs intentionally…
I know there are other artists with unhealthy song lyrics, but then compared to these two artists mentioned above they are nothing, especially Bahd Man NiKo. His lyrics are just too wild for my liking. Damn it, can you believe some of those songs are kinda playing in my head right now, not all but some crazy lyrics keep on popping in my head, devil is a liar 🤥…
My thoughts on the 21st century unhealthy lyrics and likely solution…
At the end of the day this whole debate on healthy and unhealthy lyrics depends on the preference of the listener. We are in the 21st century, this is the era where we have different tastes and preferences when it comes to music and lyrics. When it comes to musical preferences, you can’t force your preference on others. They like what they like and you like what you like…
Songs with unhealthy lyrics are the best soul treatment for some people, while to another percentage of people they are songs that disgust them. This is a two way street thing. Some people don’t like gospel lyrics because they find it boring, play it to their hearing and they start feeling uncomfortable. What we like is different from what they like…
When it comes to the aspect of unhealthy musical lyrics, I meant lyrics that can’t be written home about, nothing can be done as this is all based on popular demand. These artists give more based on popular demand. Imagine a song with an unhealthy lyrics have over a couple of million streams on all platforms, won’t this be an encouragement to release more songs with unhealthy lyrics…
If only they got like 10 streams, they will be forced to stop and find what interests the public better, but some of our people just love it unhealthy…
In summary, the only solution right now is for each and everyone of us to stick to what we love, as regards to the former, nothing can be done, they keep coming out in batches by popular demand. Let’s stick to what we love and is healthy for us and the people around us…
In conclusion, they will do what interests them and nothing will happen, the best thing is to culture what you hear, listen to songs with impactful melodies and messages, leave others to their own preferences, select your choice of songs wisely…
