Howdy! amazing friends, I trust your weekend went as planned, and you had fun? With all the interesting and unique topics proposed by @galenkp for the contest, I decided to take up one that resonated with my weekend experience in a bit to share with you'll.
The topic I settled for:
Bad hair
Have you ever had a bad haircut/bad hair day and are you willing to show it? Post the picture and tell us in at least 300 words how or why it happened, how you felt and what ramifications came from your bad hair cut or bad hair day. Photos must be your own.
Hmph! My weekend, just as always was planned out strategically in my mind. The Joy of a longtime awaited event got me elated and excited. There was a massive anticipation and the weekend had the unfolding of our expectations.
I was privileged to come across an event of interest through social media publicity (Whatsapp) to be precise.
I was interested so, I registered for it. Registration was one of the outstanding criteria for participation.
The event was tagged: SOZO - a conference that featured Dinner night, old-fashioned day, seminar, workshop, games and lots more.
I've had a goal of intentionally meeting new people this year and this conference was just the perfect avenue, knowing that I'll have people at my disposal for interactions and possible strategic relationship building.
I told everyone around me about the program, and had personally publicized it through my social media handles. I went as far as changing my display picture to the event's flier.
Yeah... I was that elated! After the necessary registration processes, I was daydreaming and imagining how the event will be.
I delved into every session in my imagination and I could assume that it was going to be wow!😯
The guest speakers from my personal research were seasoned, loaded with wealth of wisdom and resources to leverage any keen individual under their tutelage.
I identified a subunit in my local environment for better planning and preparation especially for a successful transit; since the journey was at distant land.
Traveling has been a hobby from time immemorial, and I had not gone on such a distance before. I was quite optimistic, though with mixed feeling of certain negative possibilities.
The unit coordinator had created a WhatsApp group for our unit for information, collaboration and proper planning to achieve success.
The D-Day came and the scheduled time for our departure was in the morning; 10:00am prompt. I had chores I wanted to finish up with since I was going to stay away for the weekend. I was almost running out of the track of time when I rushed through the corridor to leave. The last thing I wanted to do was to wear my shoe since I was airing it outside. The shoe were in close proximity with a corn in a tray that was dried by a neighbor. She usually sell corn the following day in the market. While I graped to put off my shoe, the tray fell along side!🥺😭😏
There was no one at home to make negotiations with so that they could help me pack, rinse and sun dry the corn again.
The bus driver was quite impatient!😏 I was able to reach out to the coordinator to explain the state of things. I could not leave the corn on the floor...🥺 I had to accept that what happened to me at that crucial hour was actually a reality. The coordinator asked if I could join them in 10 minutes, but that wasn't possible 😏.
The impatient driver had already emphasized that he was not going to spend an extra minute after the 10 minutes... My coordinator called to apologize for the inconveniences and promised to make refunds of my registration fee but, it wasn't about the registration fee!
I was so frustrated...
The thought of missing out on a long awaited fun, adventure and potential friendship threw me off balance.
I didn't see that accident coming, I would have so avoided it but, it came afterall😏.
I couldn't attend the conference and that day was a very terrible day ( bad hair day) for me. I wished I could turn the hands of time back to the last thing I wanted to do ( wear my shoe) because I wouldn't have worn that shoe🥺 to prevent the accident. I'm not just happy that I was unable to participate in the conference. I had to ask for a live stream video to follow up on some things... Yet, the experience wasn't as planned.
Have you ever had your expectations cut short as mine?😳 What did you do?🙂
Thanks for reading through to the end! I hope I didn't bore you with my story?😁🥰.
