Welcome back to my untold secrets of a battle mage. It just so happened that I was preparing this amazing battle for my social-media post and then Battle mages secret placed a demand on same ruleset, sweet!😆
This Season has been Hell on the battlefield, draining my batteries to zero just to keep up speed. I am trying my best to see this as more of a game which I am meant to have so High blood pressure about my spendings doesn't knock me out😅

I have so far shared my approach to Seven (7) Rulesets, here's the last one on BROKEN ARROWS and I have come to introduce you to another. Splinterlands seeks to sharpen skills by allowing players explore various strategies via rulesets. I have tried to study a few cards especially with the newly introduced rulesets, giving one more reasons to know what cards strongly suits them.
Before the start of any battle, each player is shown what ruleset is allowed in battle and it is extremely beneficial to read and strategize accordingly. The ruleset secret I will be sharing you to in this post is the CLOSE RANGE
CLOSE RANGE RULESET implies that Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
With this in mind players must consider that;
High Health Point, High Speed and possibly self-Heal monsters are the way to go in this ruleset. ^(a)
This is a very interesting ruleset and especially enjoy having to put my best foot forward. I have a perfect battle to demonstrate it's use and a possible lineup that works for low-mid mana battle.
Look who my opponent is and his display of cards, impressive. But, a 99% win as analyzed by the new tool I found to be very helpful in teaching you about strategizing, the SPLINTERTOOLS.IO, I immediately subscribed. Before we charge into the battlefield, I'll introduce you to the monsters and why I picked them.
⚔️ TEAM LINE-UP ⚔️
🐲DARIA DRAGONSCALE - SUMMONER
DARIA DRAGONSCALE is one of my favorite Dragon summoners because of her extra Melee attack points she offers Melee attack monster(s), something that can quickly deplete their life points so that the battle lasts a few rounds but not too long. Of course, I know when to use her, but for this battle, I needed her and her inherent ability to grant me a +1 Melee
attack point, as my front attacker is a Melee attacker LORD OF DARKNESS. I reasoned that the ruleset will make my enemy pick loads of ranged attacker, so I decided to come with melee which can prove resistant.
☠️LORD OF DARKNESS - FIRST POSITION
High HP and Heal is the way to go in this ruleset. ^(a)
LORD OF DARKNESS is the Lord of battle, and he leads the team to victory with his amazing abilities. When he is injured, his Enrage
ability is activated which gives increase Melee and speed attack . He Stuns
his assailant, leading them to lose control of the situation, losing a turn to strike. A 3 star⭐️⭐️⭐️ warrior with the Shield
ability, which shields him from melee attacks. I have employed him solely for this purpose, to absorb hits.
🐲RUNIC SKYCLAW - SECOND POSITION
In final position in placed the amazing flyer Skyclaw. Because of her high 10-shield, RUNIC SKYCLAW can deal considerable Range damage to the enemy. The ruleset clearly supports her entry into battle. She is mainly a Range attacker that can attack from any position. Her Flying
ability will destroy non-flying melee and ranged attack enemies. Her Snipe
ability targets monsters with range, magic or no attack type at all, causing great damage to them and her Reflection shield
will not take damage from Blast, Magic reflect, Thorns or Return fire.
Without further ado, let us now enter the battleground.
⚔️ THE BATTLE ⚔️
- My Enemy also used the Dragon Unit, ENEMY-DARIA DRAGONSCALE as Summoner. ENEMY-HAUNTED SPIRIT in first position, ENEMY-UNDEAD PRIEST in second, ENEMY-FALLEN SPECTER in third, ENEMY-UNDEAD ARCHER in fourth, ENEMY-WEIRDING WARRIOR in fifth and ENEMY-MAGGOTS in last position. Came at me with double Melee, double magic and double ranged attack monsters, which I expected and well, nice team line-up. I was abit concerned but then, I sorta believe my two lineup will do the job. So let's see how that went🤞.
SUMMONER DARIA DRAGONSCALE grants my melee attacker LORD OF DARKNESS the +1 Melee point. ENEMY SUMMONER-DARIA DRAGONSCALE give his team of monsters same extra Melee points.
The Enemy monsters use their abilities to Weakens, Slow, Headwind and Demoralize my two monsters on deck. Tide not looking good at all now😪
ENEMY-UNDEAD ARCHER attacks and weakens LORD OF DARKNESS health.
Then steps in RUNIC SKYCLAW as she strikes and immediately kills ENEMY-UNDEAD PRIEST 💔-3
That was impressive👏
LORD OF DARKNESS, strikes and weakens ENEMY-HAUNTED SPIRIT. This attack follows enemies targeting and trying to eliminate LORD OF DARKNESS.
ENEMY-FALLEN SPECTER launches first attack at LORD OF DARKNESS.
RUNIC SKYCLAW swoops in, strikes and immediately eliminates ENEMY-FALLEN SPECTER.
nice👏
LORD OF DARKNESS attacks and kills ENEMY-HAUNTED SPIRIT.
All three standing Enemy monsters miss their attacks on LORD OF DARKNESS and RUNIC SKYCLAW
RUNIC SKYCLAW swoops in again, strikes and immediately eliminates ENEMY-WEIRDING WARRIOR 💔-3
Bravo👏
Slam! goes LORD OF DARKNESS on ENEMY-UNDEAD ARCHER, eliminating the enemy monster immediately.

THE WHOLE TEAM lets out a fiery flame of FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!
A RECAP OF THE CLOSE RANGE RULESET
In battles that use the CLOSE RANGE
ruleset, ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles. This can make battles more challenging, as battle mages must deal with the possibility of ranged attacks from the very beginning of the battle.
To succeed in Close Range, Mages should consider using high health point or high speed ranged monsters at the second position, or even at the first position if the monster has the Heal ability [LORD OF DARKNESS & RUNIC SKYLAW PERFECTLY SUIT THIS RULE AS SEEN IN THIS BATTLE].
Additionally, Mages should choose summoners that give a bonus to ranged attacks or to speed, and then select high damage ranged attack monsters to take advantage of the battlefield.
However, battle mages should also be aware of the possibility that their opponents may pick Lir Deepswimmer as summoner or monsters with Return Fire, which can make battles even more challenging.
To counter this, mages should focus on using monsters with high HP and the Heal ability, to help them outlast their enemies and be victorious.
