Splinterland's: Tip for the Beginners to play/ test the game.
In this post, I assume that you are already onboarded in the Splinterland's and have your account registered in the game and you might be wondering about the game, that how you should start playing the game. At this point, I am not assuming whether you have purchased the Summonner Spellbook. My below points are valid for you to understand the game mechanics and test the gameplay initially before you buy Summoner Spellbook and start your journey toward the top leagues of the game.
Before you start playing the game, you should be aware that Splinterland is a trading card game primarily based on Hive blockchain though you can bridge most of your assets like cards, and packs to the WAX or Ethereum blockchain. Battles format is the "Modern" and "Wild" and battle is Player vs Player. (One to One). Since you are starting as a new player, you will be playing in the Modern Format.
You should be making the selection as in the below screenshot to get to the desired format of the battle.
Here on this page, you will see a highlighted "BATTLE" button, and clicking on it, will set you for the first and the game will be searching for an opponent for you to pair.
Take a sneak peek at opponent selection.
Once the opponent is selected, you will see the below screen, At its screen, pause to sneak peek at the "Recently Played teams" of your opponent before rushing to press "Create Team".
Other information in this screen will be still available on the next screen that comes after "Create Team" but this sneak peek on opponent's previous team is displayed on this screen only.
Pay attention to the Ruleset.
"Rules of Combat" on the above screen is the ruleset for the battle, At higher leagues, yo can have multiple ruleset in the same battle but in lower leagues, there will be only one ruleset.
You should be making yourself a little familiar with How to play Guide before playing but do not worry, if you find it too long. You will gradually start picking things after a couple of battles.
Pay attention to the ability of the monster while forming the team.
There are certain abilities and rulesets that allow or exclude monsters to take part in the battle as per their positioning and the game rulesets. Again the guide can come to your rescue but observing the battle will also make you learn things.
Make note of the best lineup.
In simple words, observe the lineup of your opponent and think if there are flaws in it ? Or it is simply brilliant? If it is brilliant then you will like to surprise your opponent with same lineup (provided the battle mana, rulesets and other condition are same.)
Watch the battle completely for better understanding.
If you want to learn the game, then doing the "Skip To Results" will be the worst thing you will be doing. No Guide can match your learning when you learn practically , by observing the things in the live battle.
Keep yourself connected to the ecosystem.
One of the major mistake that you can do in Splinterland's is just by focusing on Play2Earn rewards by focusing only on the ranked battles. There are so many activities in the Splinterland's ecosystem that you can find much more exciting. Playing on Brawls and tournament can be much more rewarding then playing ranked battles. Taking part on Splinterlands challenge post will help you find your dimension as a blogger and help you to earn some Author rewards. Might be you can get lucky on Giveaway also.
Defi pools of Splinterlands have the nicest APR i.e as high as 40% for some of the pools. For all of these opportunuties, you need at least a Summoner Spellbook costing $10.
I will not say that everything is free as time investment is also a form of investment and definitely playing the game requires you to buy cards to be competitive. So when you think about Splinterlands, you have evaluate the whole ecosystem , community and the Dev team commitment.
There are only handful of game that are still successfully running in blockchain even after 5+ years.
I hope, you will be enjoying the stay in Splinterlands and if you haven't joined, then give it a try.
