Lately I have been obsessed with Personal development, I have been looking for new ways to improve the quality of my life and also the people around me. The first step I took was make a list of things I was passionate about, arrange them preferentially and note down steps that are required to allow me live my dream. One of the numerous ambitions I have is becoming a programmer. I'm someone that enjoys things that challenge me, things that give me the opportunity to express my creativity and think deep.
While growing up I was always certain that I belonged in Tech. industry but I did not know how to go about it, partly because in my country women were not fully encouraged to go in that direction, and I had the idea that I needed a lot of money if I wanted to acquire vast knowledge or thrive in this field.
After I graduated from the University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, I tried to get basic information about Tech. related terms, google was a very powerful tool for this course, I also downloaded some applications and went through online classes on coding and Tech. related courses that helped me to gain a bit of knowledge, but if I'm being honest doing all these things would set me up a little but might not take me far, I knew that this would not take me as far as I wanted to go because although I have the passion and enthusiasm I also needed a platform where I would advance massively in knowledge and proceed to create impact in this field.
Honestly I came across some opportunities that seemed implausible because of the financial strings tied to them, it was really discouraging. I thought about it a lot and I figured there's always a way in every situation, and I strongly believe that a scholarship award will provide a platform for me to gain adequate and standard knowledge about the Tech industry, increase my enthusiasm and also give me an opportunity to create impact in the world.
I decided that I won't let my lack of funds at this point discourage me, so I'll keep practicing till I get alot better.
I'm so grateful to those people that have put out free materials, alot of people on Twitter were kind hearted enough to organize free classes and tutorials on how to code as a beginner.
This might be a very small step but I believe in starting small, I want to experience it all, the growth Process, the small wins and everything this journey has to offer.
I hope this inspires you to Start where you are, it doesn't matter if it looks small, baby steps are still steps at least you're moving. If you keep waiting for the right time, you'll be waiting for the rest of your life.
