Today is the third day of our holiday in Mojocar, southern Spain.
After a bit of online research, I decided to book us a table at resturante La Parata in the small hilly village above the resort of playa de Mojacar.
As we drove up the hill the smell of olive trees tickled my nose. This resturant is set in an absolutely sublime location, nestled amoung rock outcrops overlooking the sea. Perfect for a romantic meal.
Resturant La Parata works on a very reasonable set menu priced at two courses for 18.95€ or three Courses for 22.95€ with various menu items requiring an extra supplemental charge.
But there are at least three options per course, that don't have any extra supplemental charge.
I chose to eat a starter and main tonight as I wasn't very hungry, and the food that I was served definitely fit into the category of fine dinning.
My starter stood out as one of the best I've ever eaten. I chose the smoked salmon, wasabi cream, caper berries and beetroot gel salad.
It's hard to articulate how tasty this unique combination was on my palette. The small jewels of beetroot gel were sweet, which complimented the mild wasabi kick from the cream. When you put all the elements of the salad together on the fork, they really did play a symphonic cadence across the taste buds... perhaps you've gathered that i liked it 😂
For my main course I chose the wild mushroom rigatoni, truffle and cream sauce. This wasn't quite as unique as the starter, but it was still one of the best pasta dishes I've eaten... and I've had pasta in Italy.
The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and complimented perfectly by the sauce which was rich, earthy and creamy.
It was so filling that I really couldn't have finished a desert.
The staff were attentive, the ambience peaceful and the outside dining terrace provided a charming Spanish mountain vibe.
Overall I would highly recommend Resturante La Parata to anyone visiting the Mojacar area.
Bye for now hive foodies.
