There are times I wish I could take the law into my own hands, but no, I can't because that's an offense on its own. At times, this gives people the right to treat others so badly without any remorse, especially the less privileged.
I've never had an issue with anyone that warrants suing until the year 2022, when I purchased a standing fan from a shop. When I moved into my apartment at school in 2021, there wasn't a standard power supply, as we can go months without having light. It was so frustrating. During the afternoon, my room is always heating like a bakery. I always had to open my door for cross ventilation, which wasn't a good idea because of mosquitoes.

But I had no choice; if not, I would be sweating profusely, and heat is one of the things I dislike. I always love cool weather. After opening my doors in the afternoon, I would have to battle mosquitoes at night. At some point, that became unbearable for me even after using insecticides. The insecticides are now like a perfume on the bodies of the mosquitoes; it no longer has an effect on them because they are used to it, I guess.
Luckily, my landlord decided to share with me the generator after some months; he probably noticed or heard me complaining. The generator runs from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following morning. That day, my joy knew no bounds, so I decided to get a rechargeable fan. The one that would serve me throughout the afternoon when the generator is off.
After searching for a good product, I finally got one in an electronics shop. On this faithful day, the owner of the shop was giving me several testimonies from those who had bought it and were enjoying the product. Telling me it won't spoil in three years. I laughed because I knew that was a lie, but I had to make him feel like I believed him. After enough talking, hyping, and negotiation, I paid for the fan, and I took it home.
I was so happy the first night I used it, not knowing it wouldn't last as long as I had thought. A month after I bought the fan, it started misbehaving; the blades are no longer working with the force with which I bought them, and it discharges quickly. When there is no light, I hardly use it for 30 minutes.
I then took it back to where I bought it and explained how the fan had been working for the same man who sold it to me. At first, I asked him to help examine what might be wrong with the fan, and then he told me nothing was wrong with it, that I should go back with it, and that he had changed the setting because the fan had a remote, which I handed over to him when I got there.
I took it back home, and it improved a bit, but after two days, it stopped working completely. Immediately, I took it back there, and the man said there is nothing he can do about it. At first, it was funny to me because I can't imagine a fan that's not up to two months of usage packing up just like that. I told him to change the fan since it has a year warranty or refund me my money, which I know he won't want to oblige to.
He said he can't refund me, nor can he change the fan since the fault was mine. Then he asked me to explain how the fan stopped working. At this point, I was so pissed off because I was wondering why a man who hyped the product so well when I wanted to buy it will now be giving me a flimsy excuse why he won't be able to change the fan or refund me.
I called my dad and narrated my ordeal to him and my desire to sue the man in question if he didn't refund me. My dad laughed and told me to let go, though it hurt me so badly that I couldn't do anything about it, but I believe in good riddance. Afterwards, my dad bought another one for me, which is better than the one I first bought.
