Whose responsibility is it?

The social medias and websites is a free open market, that's what I call it though, where everyone can come to display their sanity and insanity. This is the main reason why I'm not so bothered about things I see online, and I limited my activities on some social medias to maintain my sanity and peace of mind. Things we see online are like driving force for either success or destruction. It depends on the level of attention and dedication given to it. Some uses these medias and some websites to showcase their talents and creativity while to some it is a great source of income which is a good one because everyone of us wants money, no one can dispute that but in the process of this, some go extreme and that is causing unhealthiness in the society especially to the younger generations.

Talking about who is concerned with the censorship of the contents we view online, child bearing is so different from child caring. Some parents are bearers and not carers, creators of these contents are doing so with one motion and that is to make money, one can't fight them for that because no one is holy, if these parents are in position to do such things too, they will without hesitation once there will be monetary reward then as a parent ,it is our duty to monitor strictly what our children do online. Many might not agree with this point of mine but from my perspective ,this is just the fact.

As a parent, it is your responsibility to know what your child or children is doing online especially if they are underaged , those that are not matured enough to process things themselves without it affecting their lives negatively. Taking myself for an example , I clocked 21years of age before I could boldly say I own a phone. When I clocked 18 years, my dad got me a multi links button phone just to contact me whenever he is not at home and whenever he returns he always checked through the call log to see those I called when he was away. This is a phone that cannot even access the internet. If I'm to access the internet for assignments and other related activities to academics, I always make use of my dad's phone and he was always sitted close to me monitoring every website I'm opening to be sure youthful exurberance and curiosity doesn't take me to where I was not supposed to be.

When I gained admission and left home, anytime I came home ,he is always going through my phone, checking my messages and contact list. Then I was saying he was intruding my privacy but then he was only making sure, I was doing the right thing. Thanks to adulthood ,he no longer checks my phone because he believes I'm grown and matured enough to do things myself without tresspassing. But in this present generation, parents do not have enough time for their children and this is causing lots of damages. Imagine giving a 10 years old boy an iphone 14 or any android phone just because you are rich and can afford it without knowing the activities going on the phone.

My younger brothers are done with secondary school yet they were not given a mobile phone because my parents believed they are not matured enough for it instead my dad got them a landline phone which we can access then through when we are not at home. Due to the computer programming they wanted to learn, my dad got them a laptop each for their training while those laptops were placed on close monitoring. One of them opened a Facebook account unknown to him that his email was linked to my dad's. Immediately a notification was in on my dad's email and he was punished for it, another downloaded music on the laptop and when my dad was doing his daily check on the laptops, he got to see it and he was also punished for it.

Recently ,you will see children going through porn sites, learning different kinds of immoral acts and that unknown to their parents who just dumb mobile phones in their hands without checking the activities. The creators of these contents will never stop creating more, as far as the earth remains , more will still come ,it is left to the parents to train, and monitor their wards to be good representative of them. For me, I will say parents rigidly monitoring what their kids consume online will work best than waiting for creators of these platforms to stop posting sensitive things that are not children friendly. Just as I said early, creators will continue till earth cease to exist because their aim of these things is to earn a living , who then will stop earning a living because a parent could not train his or her kid well? These days children don't want to watch educating programs or shows ,they prefer entertainment, irrespective of their ages. We can't stop entertainment vlogs, blogs or contents but we can sure control our kids from watching what we don't want them to, this is why I so much love the parental guidance on Dstv, it is a great way to keep the children in a box from watching channels that are not meant for them.

Thanks for your time, and your comments will be appreciated.

Hello there, friend. I totally agree wuth you. The internet is a place where people display their sanity and insanity. Cell phones have disadvantages and advantages. I would not say that students in secondary school should not have cell phones, they just need to be well monitored.

Thanks for sharing.

You are so right boss, parents have a lot to do in rigid monitoring of their children.

Thank you

Parents prioritize work over work now, with no time for their children and this is affecting this generation.

In a very bad way

Indeed the internal is a free market, there you will see the sane and insane. Parents need to be more strict.

Exactly

t's truly dangerous to have so many eloquent things available to people whose sense of thought is not yet fully developed. What kind of citizens are being shaped for the future while they consume inappropriate content that will influence them for a lifetime?

That's why parents should be at alert at all time

I love what your parents did because most parents are the ones exposing their children to the world they don't know anything about which is social media.
We can't fight the content creators because most of them are parents as well and everyone is there for money.
It is every parent's responsibility to monitor their children online and offline because if anything goes wrong with the children, the parents can't hold anyone responsible for it.

Exactly boss
