🦉 The yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)

  • Emberiza embritz (Old German) bunting
  • citrinella citrine (lat.) yellow; citrinella (Italian) yellow bird

The color of these birds depends on their place of residence, namely on the region where they live. In my region, there are such, with a large number of red spots, in others they can be just yellow without spots.

You can meet these birds in early spring, when there is still a lot of snow that just started to melt. Males are trying to arrive at their usual habitats as soon as possible and begin the wedding period. For example, every year at the same time in the same place I meet one male. Maybe this one of the year a year appears here. He sits on the bushes and sings a song.
