Happy creative Sunday my fellow hiveleaners.
Today, I'm so excited to share with you my new sketch. As much as I love drawing, it has been a while since I drew so I promised to dedicate this Sunday to drawing. Drawing is a way for me to relax and build my sense of concentration.
This drawing took me about 2 hours and 30 minutes to make which is surprisingly quick for me. I'm so happy that Im drawing again.
I have an obsession with drawing female faces and figures, 80% of my drawings features them. I don't have a reason though but I guess I just get this urge to draw them. I also get inspiration from them.
The photo reference is just a random picture I screenshotted from Pinterest
Let me walk you through the process:
Tools:
pencil for the foundation sketch
Blue pen for the skin and clothing
Red pen for the lip and scarf
Eraser for correction
Q-tip for blending shades
A 4 paper as the canva
drawing process
Step 1
I started by getting my tools ready. I draw a circle as a foundation to draw the head. I used a free-hand style in drawing this, so I didn't have to measure or use grids which is more accurate.
Step 2
I start drawing the lips. The lip is the first thing I start a face drawing with, it's just easier that way. Followed by the nose.
Step 3
I draw the rest of the head, the scarf, and the clothing
Step 4
After the foundation sketch then I began to shade with my pens using the hatching technique. I usually use ball pens because it is inexpensive than coloured pencils.
I start shading from the lip as usual
Step 5
I move to the nose. Take note of the highlighted areas and the dark areas.
Step6
I moved to the eye and brows
Step 7
Then the skin. The Blue skin is so nice
Step 8
I shade the ear, the neck, and the scarf
Step 9
I shade the hair and the cloth. I used a blue pen and pencil for the cloth shading and made it easier to create highlights on the cloth.
Step 10
I erase the foundation sketch and do some touch-ups
Final results
This is the final result. It is not perfect but I'm happy with it and I'm proud to add it to my sketch collection.
Thank you for reading my blog, I hope your Sunday was as creative as mine ✨❤️
