Finding minimalism in spirituality

in #hive-1948486 months ago

There is one thing I do as my morning ritual before I start my day; my daily devotion. As a Christian, my spirituality is rooted in my faith, and reading the Bible more has deepened my knowledge about a lot of things and boosted my spiritual awareness. Being more spiritual has naturally guided me to a minimalist lifestyle. So how does my spirituality influence my minimalist lifestyle?

Minimalism, to me, is about resourcefulness and simplicity. A minimalist easily identifies what is needed and gets rid of what isn't. Christianity has always supported minimalism by encouraging us to be less materialistic and focus on a lifestyle of simplicity. Simplicity is the key to a Christian lifestyle and minimalism embodies the same.

Spirituality is a different realm from the natural things of the world, and to be in that realm requires us to clear our minds of clutter and focus on what really matters. I know minimalism is often expressed in our lifestyle and physical space, but I would say minimalism starts from the mind. A clear mind and uncluttered mind is the basis of minimalism.

Christian teachings also made me understand the value of moderation and generosity. Instead of hoarding things I don't need anymore, I freely give them away to people who need them. It is popularly known that the more you give the more you have and you give again and it goes into a circle of continuous sharing. Hoarding leads to stagnation, much like a tank with stagnant water, it will eventually turn foul.

My spirituality has also taught me to cherish what I have even the little things instead of thinking of what I don't have. Being a minimalist helps you to see and notice all those little things that often go unnoticed in a cluttered environment and mind. Also notice the things around you, like nature's gifts and blessings.

In conclusion, My minimalist journey, and my spiritual outlook on deeper things have helped me to be more focused(having a clear mind and space); give more (giving out things Instead of hoarding); and cherish the little things. My spirituality has driven my minimalist lifestyle to a improved mental health and find genuine happiness.

You have said it all. Been a Christian implies living a simple life just like Jesus Christ did during his days but its so unfortunate that many has been hiding under the umbrella of Christianity these days to perpetrate their evil. thanks for sharing

I don't believe they are Christians, they just bear the name. Thanks for your comment

Keep up the good work. 👏

You are loved.

I agree with you. Christian and minimalism works well together.

Christians shouldn’t find joy in gathering so much possessions to theirselves. Living a simple life is living a Christian life.
