Happy Monday to my fellow needleworkers! Hope your week is off to a creative start! I love to share with you a little project I made yesterday.
I have a habit of losing my keys, I don't know why and how. It is annoying and the stress I have to go through to break my padlock and spend money on getting a new one is more annoying.
Recently, after I got a new key. I decided to outsmart myself. I removed one of the keys and kept it hidden around my window in case of emergencies.
Last week, I came back from an important trip, only to realize that I had lost my keys again as usual. Thankfully, I kept a spare key. I went to the window where I kept the spare key. I realize that the spare key is even more prone to lost because it is just a single key. So over the weekend, I decided to make a key chain for the only surviving key.
I checked for inspiration on Pinterest and I came across a lot of amazing ideas. I love to make a cute amigurumi keychain but I don't have a crochet wool or hook so I decided to make something I can sew since I am a sewist. I went through my scraps to decide on the fabric to use I so this effortlessly cute denim and I decided to use it. I decided to make something minimalist because the denim fabric is cute on its own.
I didn't really know what I was going for but I knew I wanted it to be heart-inspired and have my name on it. So I was just going with the flow and it ended up being a cute little keychain.
Materials:
Some scrap fabrics, plastic boning, paper for the pattern, rhinestone cord, needle and thread.
PROCESS
Step 1 (making the heart)
I cut out the pattern of the heart, pin it to the fabric, and sew. I left about a 0.5-inch gap for turning it right-side-out. 
After flipping it to the right side, I stuffed the heart with a scrap fabric I cut into smaller pieces. I closed the space I left for turning with an invisible stitch.
I added beads and created a loop
Step 2 (embroidering my name)
I decided to embroider my name.I started by writing my name on a sheet of paper, and pin it the part I wanted it to be. I used a regular sewing thread, and embroidered it in my favourite colour, light blue.
I sew the material to get a half-inch strap. And I insert boning to give it structure.
I sew the ends together and create a loop for hooking it.
Step 3 (adding the bling)
I saw this strap in the trash and decided to make good use of it. I sew a rhinestone cord on it.
And I sew beads to create a loop. I didn't get what I was expecting but it still turned out cute though. 
Step4 (assembling them together)
I didn't have a key ring, so I used an elastic rope to attach all the items and I secured it with several knots and created a loop for attaching the key.
This is the final look. It's give blue aesthetic 🩵 and I love it. What do you think?
