SHOW ME A PICTURE OF BIRD

WATERFOWL

Three Canada Geese enjoy a swim on the water.

The Canada Goose is probably the largest goose in the world. These geese are plentiful here and I often see them swimming in the local rivers and lakes.

In Autumn I see their v-shaped formation in the sky as they head South to warmer climate for the winter. Some of the geese do stay around all winter if they have a food source.

The geese decide to come on dry land and enjoy the warmth of the sun.

The Canada goose, or Canadian goose, is a large wild goose with a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body. It is native to the arctic and temperate regions of North America, and it is occasionally found during migration across the Atlantic in northern Europe

Thanks @malos10. Yes I seem to be in the middle of lots of nature and wild animals 😊

Have a great Friday. ☀️

I have not seen this kind of geese before 😀

I see them most days here on the Island., either on a nearby lake or flying in a group.

Seeing them arrive or leave seasonally must be a sight to behold, lovely captures of them on the pond locally enjoying the warmth of the sun.

!LUV

Thanks Joan and for the LUV. Yes I love seeing them around. Lately many of them can be seen in the sky in v - shaped formation getting ready to head South or for another pond or lake.

Migratory birds are totally fascinating, V-shape formation energy saving, I assume the one in front an older bird showing the future generation the way.

These birds are fascinating Joan and work as a team.

To help avoid fatigue, the position of front goose rotates between all members of the flock. In a group there is often one person who will take the lead, by virtue of personality or position. It is important as a team to ensure that everyone in the group takes a turn at the leadership position

I watched a film somewhere teaching a goose to fly with the rest after being hand reared it was fascinating!

Migratory birds totally amazing whether big or small, instinctively knowing what to do, how to react to most everything they endure.

I have never seen a goose like ths before. I wish I could see one though imagine if they are the biggest in the world. Wow! That would really be an awesome feeling.

These geese are comfortable around humans but are protective of any young they have with them.

They're wonderful :) How can they stay all winter if the lakes freeze?

Can I please use one of the pictures in Let Our Picture Tell Your Story, giving you full credit?

Congratulations from Feathered Friends :)

There is usually some open water to be found even in winter. Yes, my pleasure, you have my permission to use one of the pictures @wrestlingdesires. 😊

I don't think I have ever seen wild geese closer than flocks of these big birds flying high up in the sky towards the south in Autumn, and you hear them long time before you actually can see them 😀
Nice images and informative post, Jo, hope you're having a lovely weekend 🌞😊

Cheers and !BEER

My pleasure ❤

Unusual markings, huh?

I thought they were ducks until I read your post :) And this is why I also find Hive so addictive. I, literally, learn something new every day around here.

Are these as aggressive as other types of geese?

I had a battle with an Egyptian Goose one night when I was rowing. He was fierce!

Yes there is always something interesting on Hive.

The Canada Geese can be aggressive if they have young ones but I’ve never seen them be that way.

Well... all of us mamas get a bit crazy aggressive if our young 'uns are threatened.

I think nature builds that into us. 👍 Quite brilliantly.

The white Geese are often used on smallholding down here as guard "dogs" :) They're renown for being fearless and taking no sh!t :D

Anyway... they're beautiful. The Canadian Geese 👆

Very big birds! We never see these here.

Yes they are a big bird. Some people shoot and eat them but I never have and don’t ever intend to.
