Hi Hivers and Visitors Alike!!! Greetings to everyone from this Side of the Planet.

Today, I'll be sharing with Y'all a drawing I made of my General Overseer and His wife.
I made this drawing in April, when He came visiting our Branch church( All Christians Fellowship Mission). It was His first visit to my town for a crusade and We decided that it'd be best that we presented Him with something Beautiful and Timeless and I was tasked to create this Artwork.
This is my biggest artwork and I had to be quick to meet up with the deadline.

Title: The Founder And His Wife
Medium: Charcoal Pencils( 4b, 6b,), kneaded eraser, monozero eraser, brushes and FBB paper
size: 30* 24 inches
Technique: hatching, cross hatching and rubbing
Duration: 46 hrs

Below are the work in Progress pictures and a tip that I'll keep repeating for beginners cos I made some of those mistakes on here.

First mistake I made that haunted me till I finished this piece is "not shading my background before the main subject of the drawing", I tried to explain why that's a mistake before the last WIP pic in this post.

Mistake No.2, Being scared of priming the entire with of the subject with a base layer of my pencil. Don't be sacred, art is all about mistakes, many mistakes making beauty.
So Let's try to shade the face entirely to create a base layer first before getting serious( pls shade lightly, cos we'll create the highlights from the base layer).

Mistake No.3
I went about shading sections without having a clear definition of my dark tones to light tones.
Let me explain, when you start a piece, you should begin shading from the darkest parts of the reference, why?! because it's through that section that you'll get to define your other tones. it'll help you to have a clear and even definition of the various tones on your reference.

Very valuable tip for men and every other artist going forward, Try as much as possible to draw/ shade your backgrounds before you start shading the main subjects of your drawing to avoid bold visible borders, They'll make your piece look "uncool"( I don't know if that's a word😅)

That's all I have for now.
Thanks for viewing and the support. I'll be back soon.
