A journey by Train to see the Mountain!

Would you believe it if I said, my hometown is very close to the Himalayas? It's around 300 km, but we have to cross the border, go through immigration, border checking, etc.

But we have another way to enjoy the mountain view from our border city called 'PanChagar- Bangladesh'. During the winter the peak of the Himalayas called Khangchendzonga becomes visible. We can't climb the mountain because of the border but there's no boundary to enjoy the view, right?

We went to visit the border city to discover that.

We had to wake up very early in the morning to get on the train. It was a 3-hour ride. I took my mom, aunts, cousin brother, and sisters with me. So it was a family tour, you can say.

The day started with a refreshing raw tea on the train.

We were too early, I guess. But we didn't mind sitting on the train to enjoy observing people. Some street vendors were coming and offering to buy their products. Their body is their store as you can see!

There was not a boring second with all the cousins and aunts and with my mom. We had a lot of gossiping and shared food and snacks, and my son walked around the whole train; it was fun.

The train started after 30 minutes. As you can see from the sign, Bhutan is only 286 km from the point. We live so near to one another but the border separates us.

We booked a resort to stay at the night after our trip and returned to our home the next day. This night's photos of the rail station are from the next day.

I will share the resort view and more photos of the day in another post.

As I live far from my family so I always miss this type of adventure. It was not much but the family gathering is what made it much more fun.

Let me give you a spoiler, we couldn't see the mountain peak because of the bad weather. But we visited the tea gardens, the river, and the villages for the whole day and it was truly an adventure.

I will share more from my visit soon. Have a good day, everyone.

I am waiting for the another post you mentioned here to see the view of resort. I think as long as we spend time with family, there is no chance to get bored.

I agree, family gathering after so long is never boring. I will share the rest of the photos soon.

Lovely pictures there. It is my dream to ride a train, and have sightseeing of beautiful places.

Train journey is itself an adventure. Do it when you get the opportunity.

The train aesthetic reminds me of Thai trains. Do you need a visa to visit Bhutan?

Yes, most of the Asian trains are similar because they were build by British during colonial time.
Bhutan provides 'on arrival' visa, but we don't have any direct road connection with them.
Thanks for your interest.

I haven't been in a train before, so I got thinking....
The tea cup placed on the window, won't they fall from shaking while the train is in motion? Lol

You guys had a nice time. Weldone 🙌

Sure, the tea cup will fell 😁
Train journey is very relaxing. I wish you would have the opportunity soon.
