Visiting my mom means having a lot of comfort food, I mean a lot. I have tried a few dishes that I almost forgot existed. We don't eat them at home anymore, the practically forgotten dishes we often ate during childhood.
That's mom's magic, they never forget about their children's favorites.
Let me show you some of the dishes that I have tried in the last few days.
I'm starting with this 'flattened rice' dish. We call it Cira Biriyani, it's sweet and spicy at the same time, and a little crunchy. I almost forgot when was the last time I tried this. We used to eat this a lot during our childhood as a breakfast or sometimes as an afternoon snack as well.
Then comes this fish egg mashed. The egg of Rohu fish is not my favorite. But when it comes to this mashed dish with a lot of spices, onion, and mustard oil then I never say no.
Whenever I visit my mom, I always try to have some dry fish curry. It's our local delicacy to eat dry fish variously. The dish is a little sticky, well, a lot sometimes. But we grew up with the flavor so it's kind of our favorite dish.
Lastly, this egg pudding. My mom prepared it so well, I love it. The caramel was adding a nice surprise to the pudding.
All these dishes are very simple and that's what I love about them. No fancy restaurant can bring this flavor like my mom.
I'm sure you too have your mom's cooking as our favorite dish. I believe it's not the cooking process but the love and care they put into it that's what matters.
My mom is getting old, she can't do much nowadays, not we can have any fancy dish party a huge dining tables like before. The memories she created over the years are enough for us. We are trying our best to return. But can we give back as much as our moms do? NEVER, right?
