Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge!
The Splinterlands team has issued a challenge. The name of the challenge: Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! Such a challenge requires one to share a battle in a post on the HIVE Blockchain. Not just any battle will count towards the Mage Secrets challenge entry. Each week the Splinterlands Team will pick a specific rule-set, card or ability and ask for it to be showcased. This week a battle that showcases the ability Aim True is what is needed for participation. To read more about the Battle Mage challenge click here. Before we get to showcasing the ability Aim True lets first give the Splinterlands in-game definition of such.
Aim True As Defined By Splinterlands:
Melee and Ranged attacks will always hit their target.
This applies to magic attacks even if the Phase ability is in play.

Battle Guide For Newbies
I recently had some newbies to the Splinterland game ask me how to get to the battle screen and what strategy to use. In the chance that there are some newbies reading this; I think this post is a good time to hand out some basic strategy and also give a brief breakdown on the steps needed to pick a team for battle. If you are new to Splinterlands and aren't sure what UNITS to pick for battle the general rule I have always told everyone is (1) Melee Units in the front (2) Range Units in the back (3) Magic Units can go anywhere. Once you play using this basic strategy for a little while adjust in accordance to the rule-sets displayed before its time to battle. Also keep an eye on what abilities each of your chosen UNITS have.

Now Onto Battling
Its been awhile since I took my collection of Units and Summoners to the battle-filed. This meant I had to start in the NOVICE league. Luckily I dispatched of my foes rather quickly and it wasn't long before I reached the Bronze League. It is here we will attempt to win a battle showcasing the rule-set Aim True. It took me a total of 11 Battles to move from Novice to Bronze. My confidence growing with each additional win. Entering the Bronze League, my first matched opponent fled (Likely scared due to my 11 win streak). My next Bronze League battle I lost (I couldn't believe it), likely due to some alignment of the moon or something like that because no way that loss was my fault. Anyways, afterwards I decided its time to bring out the big guns and seek an Aim True battle against anyone who dares to meet me in battle. I can't lose two in a row, not after going 11-0, not in the bronze league, just not going to happen. Boom Lost again. It was just then that it hit me. Instead of showcasing my own battle, lets give a little twist to this challenge and showcase someone else's and provide some commentary. Even if for no other reason than to standout from all the other Battle Mage contest entries. After viewing the TOP BATTLES on the Splinterlands site I randomly choose an Aim True battle to showcase. I'm about to watch it in real time and provide some commentary when doing so.
Ladies and Gentleman, People of all ages today we gather to watch Sniper-VC duke it out on the Splinterlands battle-field against his foe named Outlinez. Today's battle rules will be Aim True. Lets see the teams.
Sniper-VC chooses some classic units to bring to the battle-field. In total their team has six units in its squad that are in-line as follows; (1) The Kraken (2) Spirit Hoarder (3) Pirate Archer (4) Crustacean King (5) Merdaali Guardian (6) Furious Chicken. Two of which are range attack units (2) & (3) and one of which is a melee attack monster (1) that has a whooping 14 health and 4 attack. Not to mention a shield of three and speed of four. These are some great picks to go along side the Aim True rule-set. Lets see what Sniper-VC and his team are up against.
Outlinez also has a team of Six which consist of (1) Cursed Windeku (2) Furious Chicken (3) Soul Strangler (4) Ravenhood Warden (5) Dhampir Stalker (6) Life Sapper. Out of these six chosen UNITS three have range (3), (4), (5), and the tank in first position (1) has a melee attack of two, health of nine and speed of three but is also equipped with thorns and reflect. The only overlapping UNITS here is the CHICKEN with Outlinez being GOLD. This should be an interesting battle, lets take a look.
The Battle:
While both teams took to the battlefield in hopes of victory only one will reach that goal. The monsters (Units) themselves were roaring to go but as you will see when you watch the battle itself this was a one sided beat-down. It took just five rounds for the Sniper-VC team to dispatch of their foes. Sniper-VC tank in first position was just too much to overcome. Each time The Kraken took on damage his friends with healing abilities fixed him up in a hurry. And since this battle took place under the Aim True rule-set there was little to no chance in any Melee or Ranged attacks missing. This meant much damage was done within each round of battle. That is not to say Outlinez didn't put up a valiant effort. They absolutely did, no Units were lost in round one of this battle but with no healers behind the team of Outlinez, their Units were unable to recover any health lost in the first round of battling. If you ask me that was Outlinez undoing. It was the tank + healers that decided the victor in this battle. Both important factors in any battle but one could argue even more important when facing a foe under the Aim True rule-set (If you can't make your foe miss, lots of health and regeneration of health are great choices to help you stack those wins).
