ποΈCOMMENTARY
To maintain a knit relationship with the Holy Spirit, a child of God must keep up a steady prayer life. That is why it is baffling to hear people say, "Try something else. Everything is not prayer, prayer, prayer."
Is there anything better than prayer anywhere that a child of God should try? This is a fat lie from the bottomless pit. If Jesus, in our text today, told a parable just to buttress the point that men ought always to pray, and not faint. Then, every child of God really needs to maintain an active prayer life. Jesus knew that there was nothing good a praying child of God could not get from God the Father; that was why He encouraged believers to be very prayerful.
A brother told a story of what prayer could do. He was a fresh graduated student from a university. His office organized a business seminar and invited a resource person, Donald Bank, from America. The reason was that the office used to send staff to America every year for the seminar but felt it would benefit individuals and companies if the seminar was held in Nigeria. But when they applied for the entry permit of the resource person, Donald Bank, the immigration boss refused because the company had a Christian name. The Managing Director of the company went to talk to the immigration boss but he was driven out. The following week, during a management meeting one man suggested that the young graduate be sent to go and try.
Though the Managing Director felt insulted but he consented. The young man declared a 3-day prayer and fasting asked his friend to join him. The two of them went to the immigration office and he asked his friend to continue praying in the reception while he went in to see the big boss. In few minutes, he came out with the approved entry permit while his friend was still lambasting in tongue and they left with joy.
What the Managing Director could not get through personality the young man got through prayer. Whatever that need is, if you can keep
yourself swimming in the living pool of prayer it shall be yours.
