“Standards and Conduct…” by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

in #hive-1586943 years ago

Finishing up from my “DAY ONE” post about LIVING INTENTIONALLY; I wanted to have three new works of cryptoart published before bed (as of the 14th), but I only have one so far! Time to remedy that…

"Lasting Horizontal Liquid Conceptions" by RFY

lasting horizontal liquid conceptions (22 may 2020) by rfy.png

[Ink on notebook page with digital embellishments and color.] You know what? Sometimes, I just like the way words sound. The "meaning" isn't important, but the MONSTER - that's just a beast, ain't it! ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

P.S. - Are we sane again? (Doesn't seem like it...)

[Digital drawing created on my older phone back in 2017.] I was just learning how to navigate a digital drawing space when I created this, but I love the facial expressions on these two creatures faces. Not sure what is means, exactly, but I like it! ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

DAY TWO (15 Mar. 2022)

From my notebook, yesterday and this morning:

“5:14 P.M. – I finished my “DAY ONE” post and shared it to both Peakd.com (my HIVE blog) and Ello.co. Might get some eyes…

“[ x ] Still need to mint AT LEAST 2 more cryptoartsez before bed time. Think I can do that…

“This is a recursive project. My plan is to print out my DAY ONE post, study it, and expand on the concepts… (And, I DID get three new NFTs published, so…good!)

“Tomorrow, I’ll see if NOT taking a three hour nap helps me be more productive…”

[Here is a moment where my cultural conditioning might be kicking in. I am ASSUMING that for my time to have been spent in a “worthwhile” manner, it MUST “produce” something. What if I needed to sleep yesterday? What if the dream that I had while sleeping (even though I couldn’t remember most of it on waking) was important to my inner life? (Who the hell knows what’s going on in there? That’s definitely one of the goals of this project: explore the INNER WORLD and see what it’s all about! Regardless, “productive” isn’t necessarily the ONLY positive quality.] [Now back to the journal, still in progress…]

“Need to:

“[x] Do laundry (for real this time.) [ ] 3 new NFTs… [ ] Reshuffle music [x] Print DAY ONE
([ ] 3 ring binder) [x] Type DAY TWO

“Now, I need to take my nighttime pills, brush my teeth, and go to bed. (I usually read for an hour or so before I crash out for the night… Good fun!

“6:04 A.M. – 15 MAR ‘22

“Woke up to screech again, [and] recorded as much of my dream as I could remember. (By the time I wake up and ‘exit’ the dream, I begin the process of fictionalizing the dream fragments. ‘Interpreting’ and trying to build a narrative…” [The idea here is that my dream might not HAVE a narrative – a STORY – until I try to impose one on the random images and incidences…just like in “REAL LIFE.”]

“The cat, Karl, is pushing my pen with his face so I can’t write. ‘Pay attention to me!’ he says…

“Woke up, tried to record dream, got dressed, left sleep chamber, plugged my blue speaker into a charger, and used the bathroom… Then I took my pills… (Medicine… chemicals. Keep the blood pressure and anxiety under control… almost…)

“My sleeping tunes malfunctioned last night. Not sure what happened – but I didn’t like it. I prefer to sleep with music on… (Keeps me from hearing ghosts…) Luckily, the neighbors have a wind chime on their porch, so I focused on that until I drifted off.

“Read more in Book of Lies last night, most of an article about H.P. Lovecraft and his “magickal realism” style. Solidly written article AND fun to read. (Not always the case that scholarly reading is ALSO entertaining… Some of that shit is seriously dull… Mind numbing, even…)” [I spent a great deal of time, decades, in an academic environment. In fact, I am STILL employed by a university, right now, as a writing tutor… I only work two days per week, and I get to work from home, so that’s cool.]

“King Kong died for your sins…

principia king kong.jpg

[My photo from my copy of the Principia Discordia by Malaclypse the Younger.]

“I cut one of my toenails too short, and now it’s rubbing against my sock… A minor annoyance. What should one do with minor annoyances? Block them out??? (Or dwell on them until they rip open the fabric of reality…)

“All of the power cords in this house have teeth marks all over them. Dumb-head cats…

“Printed out yesterday’s “DAY ONE” pages. This is a recursive project requiring study and analysis, then expansion on previous concepts and themes… Mental ditch digging…”

[As an example of my terrible memory, I had already forgotten that I’d written that “This is a recursive project” a few hours earlier in my notebook. Interestingly, being recursive means going back over previous statements, reexamining, and rethinking earlier ideas. Honestly, though, I just forgot that I’d already written it! Ha!]

bottom of page sketch.jpg

[Ink on notebook – sketch from the bottom of the page.]

[Time moves on…]

“The meds make me tired. Took a nap (but shorter than last time. Only an hour and a half… Not sure how to counter the med-fog, beyond just forcing myself to power thru…)

“Woke up and read thru the printed out “DAY ONE” pages. Made some notes, including minor revisions. I’ll probably turn this project into a PDF file… I have bad luck selling my PDFs, but they are a great format: print ready booklets archived on a blockchain. (Usually Hive or Tezos. (Do I have any PDFs on Hive? Yes, but I think they are all “downloadable content” that purchasers of my images can get as bonus material.))

“Should art be bought and sold like any other commodity? Does it LOSE its expressive / ritual / psychological content by having a price tag on it?? In an ANTHRO class I took [as an undergrad] - GODS DEMONS WITHCCRAFT AND POSSESSION (taught by Claire Wilkinson-Weber), [fantastic course!] we learned that witch doctors and shamans DO charge for their services. The trick is making the “MAGIC” worth paying for!”

[By this, I think I’m referring to PERFORMANCE. Regardless of the “truth” of magic or superstition or ritual, if the performance of the magic is EFFECTIVE, psychologically speaking, the “customer” will feel like they got their money’s worth…]

“Finally did some laundry while watching ghost videos on YoooTooob. (Slapped Ham runs a spooky channel, but the creepiest thing of all is the name, “Slapped Ham!”)
https://www.youtube.com/c/SlappedHam/videos

“The kids are coming over for dinner tonight. (This means I’ll need to get all my typing done before they get here. Tomorrow, I’m pretty sure I’m watching the baby so Frankie [Mariah and my older daughter] can get some stuff done…)”

[That’s it for today’s journal entry transcriptions. Some thoughts in there that I might explore in more depth at some point in the future…If there is a future…]

I only have two notes to myself sent from my phone this time. Here they izzzz…

xxxxxxxxxxxxx

[I posted this bit to my Tweeterz page yesterday afternoon:]

“I have TWO TEZ left, but I'm going to keep minting anyway! Ha! #overthecliff

[For those who aren’t familiar with the process of minting / publishing an NFT to a blockchain, there are little fees that need to be paid to post new work. On proof of stake blockchains, like Hive and Tezos, these are very small fees, like a dollar or two at the most. This is in contrast to Ethereum platforms, which can cost over a hundred bux (USD) in fees to mint a single image. That’s too rich for my blood. I’m minting a lot of artwork and not selling most of it, so I can’t spend a hundred dollars on each piece. I’m using my cryptoart platforms as galleries, spaces to PERFORM my weird ART LIFE RITUALS! Performing my process, my thoughts, and my creations… (So stuff’s gotta be cheap!) Happily, I’ve found my platforms of choice!]

[Here’s the other message I sent to myself this morning:]

“Dream fragments: on a treasure hunt with the O'Brien boys in Castle Rock mashed into Toledo. Earlier in the dream, Ellie had a dog! Plus, I'm thinking we were going on a trip with Terry or visiting him or something.... It's all fading already....”

[The O’Briens are crazy people who I am good friends with. According to Richard O., he and his brother grew up in Chehalis, Washington, which is right near Toledo, Wash, where my Dad (R.I.P.) spent his teenage years and most of his adulthood. (His life was complex.) The part of the dream with the O’Briens in it was similar to an adventure story, with maps and landmarks, and we were trying to find some kind of treasure (buried treasure, of course.) The Castle Rock section of the dream, which came earlier, took part – at least a little bit – in the house I used to live at when my mom was married to her second husband. (Our kids now call him, “Grandpa Terry.”) I don’t remember much, but it was strange that Ellie (Mariah and my younger daughter) had a dog! This is odd because Ellie hates dogs, doesn’t like petting them or touching them, and she would never want to own one! Why did my subconscious brain give her a dog???]

According to Slapped Ham, “Spirits can be quietly lurking in places that you’d least suspect.” So true… So true…

xxxxxxxxxxxxx

After lunch with Mariah, I put some folded laundry away, switched the washed clothes to the drier and started it, put more clothes in the washer, and unloaded then reloaded the dishwasher. Now, I’m eating some fruit (seven pieces… Nice prime number!) and getting ready to finish the edits on the “DAY ONE” pages. [DONE!]

On to some ARTZ…

[Digital drawing created on my phone.] After a mystical experience, the entire world looks different - at least until the "spiritual" substances completely leaves your system! (Watch out for flashbacks... That's why I stick with SUGAR as my main drug...) ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

"How to Breathe" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

how to breathe.png

[Digital drawing created on my phone...] This is, hopefully, a straightforward document explaining the process by which one might breathe in and breathe out. This is a complex activity, but one that folks would be advised to take some time to attempt... (This is not financial advice.) ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

While typing and uploading my artworks to the various NFT platforms, I was listening to some old radio programs reproduced as a YoooTooob page:

I love these types of shows…

Anyway, let’s wrap this post up for the day… (I’ll keep trying to BE AWARE for tomorrow, too!) Oh, and one more thing before we float away like the dream-beings we are…

[Last night, I posted this as my nightly art share:]

“Keeping the tradition alive, here's tonight's #noshill #freetolookat #art share!
