After four months of beta testing, the full 8-bit Era of the Rise of the Pixels game is now live on Hive. We’re excited to see what kind of games and game studios you create! For those just tuning in, the recently updated Rulebook aka Whitepaper is the best place to get your questions answered.
Below are some important details about these first few days and weeks after launch.
🌟 Bonus rewards
For the next 48 hours, in-game $PXL rewards will enjoy a little boost, and the Cid Meier recruiter will offer a discount for 72 hours.
🕰 24 hour $PXL withdrawal wait period
We will not allow $PXL withdrawal for 24 hours, so we can carefully monitor the behavior of the rewards system. If it operates as expected, then we will open the floodgates. This is to protect the early moments of the economy from any bugs or unforeseen issues.
🎉 Post-launch event points available immediately!
The post-launch event will “start” in about 2-3 days, but all the actions required to earn leaderboard points count at the time of launch: opening packs, making games, research, and training. Buying packs also counts (as do all your past packs). Details on the prize pool, points, and other info will be released with a post in about 2-3 days.
Hint: Reblogging this launch post also earns leaderboard points 🙂
✨ Marketplace is live
You can trade RotP NFTs on our marketplace, using $HIVE and $HBD. Support for other currencies is planned in the future. If we notice any glitches or bugs, we may pause asset trading in the early days after launch. Fingers crossed that everything runs smooth.
🎁 Unopened pack bonus
We’ve decided to still give rewards for unopened pack, but at a much slower rate than in Beta. Studios will earn a small amount of Reputation for each unopened pack if they have less than 50 total Reputation. As you get closer to 50 rep, the amount per pack shrinks. Full details are available here.
👥 Your RotP Team
A quick introduction to the team behind RotP if we haven’t yet met:
@asgarth, Founder and Random Code Generator: Remember the 90s, when blowing into game cartridges was a thing and every day was a quest to save the virtual world? That was @asgarth’s playground. Fast forward to the 2000s, and he swapped his gamepad for a keyboard. Starting from the ground up, he dove headfirst into the world of software development. Later on, he’d delve into web3. He brought with him the same tenacity he had while navigating 16-bit landscapes, only this time, he was coding his own adventures.
@JARVIE, Artwork, AI, and Mechanics Advisor: Journey back to a time when every click of a camera was a discovery, every new technology a frontier to explore. That's where @jarvie began, in a world where images told stories and technology was a canvas for creativity. From weaving dreams through the lens to navigating the vast oceans of the digital world, his path has been one of endless curiosity and innovation. His support for @asgarth's grand vision intertwines with his own drive for innovation and mental stimulation ensuring the game not only captivates the players' imagination but also offers a seamless, thought-provoking experience.
@yozen, Code Fine-Tuner: Once the maestro of math and science, he has traded in his whiteboard for the wild world of web development. From equations to code, he's now on a quest to ensure glitch-free virtual realms and hilariously debugged experiences. Forget theorems; Yozen's new constants are coffee and the occasional debugging-induced hair pull. In this web development wonderland, he wraps the code like a Christmas gift, fine-tuning and debugging to contribute to the seamless progress of a project.
@jfuji, Word Wrangler and Mechanics Advisor: Words are tricksy creatures. Especially when expressing themselves in the English form. How on Earth is “Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo,” a grammatically acceptable sentence in this language? Maybe we’re the aliens. Anyway—@jfuji’s job is to make sure the words make as much sense as possible, convey important information while being entertaining, and help our AI friends get better at the job as well. He also advises on general game design, marketing, mechanics, and incentive structures.
