The Importance Of Consistent Curation

I will lead off by admitting that I have not been so consistent with actually curating content over my year+ here on Hive. Some days I am quite engaged and then other days it just slips my mind. What I was not aware of though was just how much profit I was leaving on the table by not getting myself more involved.

Using HiveStats (a tool created by the @leofinance team), you are able to track your curation HP as well as getting an idea of what your curation APR is.

Here is a look at their screen for my account:

Using the dates of payouts on the 27th vs the 23rd, it is illustrated what the difference would be regarding curation HP. On the 23rd, I made more Hive Power, but it was through my posts while only collecting .04 HP from curation. On the 27th however, I was able to get 1.08 HP from curation, a difference of 1.04 HP, which currently is valued at $1.62 USD.

This may not seem like a lot, but scaled over the course of a year, this is $591.30 left on the table given a stable Hive price (something I personally expect to not remain stable, but to increase) and not even factoring in the compounding effect of your earnings allowing you to earn bigger rewards once powered up.

In addition, when curating content, it isn't so hard to leave a comment and get further involved with what you are reading through engagement, which will likely lead to further rewards coming your way just for speaking your mind! Plus, you earn Hive-Engine tokens for doing this as well; it is all just so positive.

I am very excited to get consistent when it comes to curation. I have spent entirely too many days letting my voting mana stay above 94-95% and would like to work that down to around 80% on a regular basis. If you are writing quality posts, expect to see me dropping around your stuff eventually!

I think auto-voters can help you when you are not around. I think manual curation is better but there are times when you are busy or not on. In that case, you can set your account to vote during those periods when your VP is too high.

Content creation and curation are key factors for our growth on Hive and the communities from here.

I love Hive Stats, personally. The setup and everything else about it. Is their source code available for review? I'd love to see this applied to other tokens. Anyway, thanks for the article. I hope you have a great week.

I am not quite sure, but seeing how open the @leofinance team is, I assume that it may be or that they would send it over if you asked one of them! @khaleelkazi

Ah. The word I wanted to use was "open source" lol. Gotta love Leo for its ingenuity.
