Good day Asean Hive Community!
I hope we are all doing fine no matter where we are and what we are experiencing in our lives.
I am sharing my child's experience for her very first tooth extraction done last week. It is actually her 4th tooth but all the 3 teeth fell off on it's on as soon as the new tooth starts to appear. I am also a bit curious why her lower front teeth fell off and permanent teeth appears instead of the upper front teeth. All of her playmates starts with upper front tooth, how about your kids? The dentist was not bothered about it and said that it is normal that each kid shed tooth differently.
I'm already a mother of two but it seems like I need to learn more about growing children and each stage needs different care and approach. Even their attitude and moods changes in a snap, sometimes my brain feels like a slow internet which keeps loading before I fully understand why and how it happens.
Booking an appointment is not easy specially for pediatric dentist but I grab a chance to book for a general dentist in a clinic near us. They are also a bit strict about health due to the pandemic, before you get approve you need to fill out a form about the patient's and guardian's health to make sure that everyone is safe. After two weeks we finally get an appointment.
Except for the hairnet we also need to wear shoe sack and everything is disposable which is good to avoid contamination. We waited for about 15 minutes before we move to dental extraction room.
While waiting for the dentist to change her PPE she watched some kids show there, maybe this room is specially made for children patients.
Her assistant let my daughter gargle some mouth wash but before letting her gargle it she ask her if she is into something spicy then she diluted it with more water.
The dentist's is finally in, first she ask my child about her self. When she feels that she gained my daughter's trust she started the process.
She was injecting the anesthesia but my daughter is giggling because some of it squirt from the hole between the tooth and gums. The dentist told her that the germs peed and she keeps on giggling. Her tooth was extracted in less than 30 minutes. We brought her tooth home because we want to keep her milk teeth as a remembrance of how good she is in taking care of it though some of her molar teeth have cavities already. Instead of candy the clinic offers a set of jewelry toy and bubbles, she chose bubbles. Our total bill is 1,450 Pesos ($ 27.77), $19.15 for basic tooth extraction and $8.62 for reservation that serve as the fee for covid control when you come at the appointment date.
We quickly grab something cold for her gums and she likes ice cream.
Finally, it is extracted so the permanent tooth at the back can freely move towards. I know it is not cheap to have tooth extraction specially in private clinics but braces are much expensive.
She is really brave for a first timer in tooth extraction because she's not afraid and don't even cry. As we enter the clinic she admitted that she was a bit nervous but she will do it no matter what 'cause she's already a big girl now. She was so happy when the dentist compliments her that she is really a big girl now and she did a great job taking care of her teeth.
You can share your experience with your child's milestones in the comments, I will be really glad to read them so I can learn from them too. That's all for today, see you on my next blog!
