Karachi is a really big city, I mean it’s a real big one. no one has ever seen the whole of Karachi even people who are living in Karachi for so many years. Well, I can say that I have seen almost 60% of Karachi. Today, I am gonna share one of the famous spot in Karachi known as Manghopir ka Mazar which is situated in the north of Karachi, one of the oldest place and famous for so many things. I remember that we used to go there a lot when I was a small kid, with my parents. Mostly, when we were sick, moles on skin or any skin issues, we used to go there to have a bath.
After a long time, I went there and it was because my brother who was here last year with his son, wants to show his son this place. It is said to be the place of very famous Sufi Saint Hazrat Khawaja Hasan also known as Manghopir Sakhi Sultan. There are too many stories and theories about him and his crocodiles. Yes, this place is famous for his shrine, his crocodiles and one hot water spring which is very helpful and beneficial for sick people. Well, I think its all about belief and trust and making your mind into something. No doubt, there is some spiritual power and many other things which attract and give relaxed feeling at this place but again, it all depends on your mind. I do belief in it that is why I get some relaxed feeling at this atmosphere whereas it will not apply or will be the same for everyone.
First of all, getting to this place is not an easy task. The road which leads to this place are not in good shape and give a tough time to the drivers. It is all due to heavy traffic movement because there are numerous marble factories around this place and transportation on heavy vehicles is needed due to which roads are not maintained well even if they make some nice ones. So, after so many ups and downs, we reached at the shrine. Thank God, the weather was nice, not that harsh sunlight over us or else it would have been a disaster if that Sun supports the dust all around us.
I took some pictures of surroundings, it was looking calm and quite, not many people around. We bought some flowers to present at the shrine. My Nephew did the needful and then prayed for all of us. The place is delicately built and should be promoted for tourism. People can find so many theories and stories of this place on Google and it is hard to understand and believe in any of them however, it is good source to promote so people from all over the world can come and check this historical place which is said to be made in 13th century.
Yes, these crocodile families have been here for a long time. No one knows the actual and exact time but its very much old. It is said that these crocodiles are lice of Manghopir Baba. Well, once again its all about belief and values and stories told by ancestors and forefathers. No one knows the actual and real story of these crocodiles who are residing here for centuries and not a single incident of attack and injury heard. They are very much open for all who used to feed them with raw meat and different types of other meat products. Visitors are also allowed to go and feed them. they are considered to be one of the dangerous animals in this world but looking at this place, they are acting like a pet animal. We had a good time with these crocodiles, insisting my Nephew to go there and have a selfie with crocodile but he denied and enjoyed watching from safe place.
Talking about hot water spring, it was there a few blocks away but we decided to move back to the city. It was enough for all of us, we did tried to do some shopping for my sister in law, those handmade clay work was looking really nice but my brother thought otherwise and put down my shopping idea lol. I knew he was tired because of the long journey and then dust plus he was feeling hungry and we didn’t like anything out there. That is all from my visit to this awesome place, hope you guys find it interesting and search yourself to believe whatever you want :)
