Hello everyone, Welcome to my Splinterlands Social Media Challenge post. In this post, I will talk about the importance of Defense and the Going the Distance Ruleset, and more, as well as an amazing battle. I hope it will be useful for you.
In battles, Monsters need to hit targets to destroy them, so they shouldn't miss them. Therefore, having a good defense in battles is very useful and can both benefit your team greatly and help you win the battle.
Especially, Monster with high speed and Flying Ability or Dodge Ability is very difficult to hit with Melee and Ranged Attacks, so using Monster with high speed and Flying Ability or Dodge Ability against Melee Attack Monsters and Ranged Attack Monsters will be quite useful. No matter how powerfully monsters attack, if they can't hit their target, it doesn't matter how powerful they attack, and dodging enemies' attacks is always useful in battles.
Let's see an example of what I mentioned above in a battle.
- Going the Distance: Only Units with Ranged attack may be used in battles.
- Ferocity: All Monsters have the Fury ability.
According to the ruleset of the battle, all monsters in this battle will have the Fury Ability and only Units with Ranged attack may be used. Monsters with the Fury Ability do double damage to targets with the Taunt Ability, so using Monsters with the Taunt ability in this battle would be a disadvantage, so I will not include this ability in my lineup.
Since only ranged attack monsters may be used in this battle, I will put Runic Skyclaw in the first position without hesitation because it can do a great defense against them.
Runic Skyclaw is a very powerful Dragon with Flying Ability and 6 speed, especially, it is not easy to hit it with melee and ranged attacks. Even though it doesn't attack in the first position, I wouldn't hesitate to put it in the first position in such battles because I also attach great importance to defense in such battles. Also, in this battle, I will increase its speed by 1 and decrease the speed of all monsters on the opposing team by 1 so that Runic Skyclaw can defend more strongly against ranged attack monsters in this battle. I will also put Venari Marksrat with Martyr Ability in the first position and it will probably be destroyed in the first round and when Venari Marksrat dies Runic Skyclaw will get +1 to all stats. It really is a brutal strategy against ranged attack monsters, as hitting it will be incredibly difficult in this battle.
In this battle, I chose Quix the Devious as the summoner, and thanks to it, the speed of all enemies will be reduced by 1 and the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters will be reduced by 1. Additionally, I've added Headwinds and Swiftness to my lineup. Headwinds Ability reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Units by 1. Swiftness Ability increases the Speed of all friendly Units by 1.
This and similar strategies really work well in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset, which is why I prefer these types of strategies in such battles.
By the way, in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset, you may also consider including the Close Range and Return Fire abilities in your lineup because they are quite useful.
Actually, the opposing player's strategy also looks good, but I can say that I was surprised that they added the Taunt Ability to their lineup because even though Wave Brood has 13 health, it was easily destroyed in the first round because all the Monsters have the Fury Ability in this battle. In battles with Ferocity Ruleset, it was a good example of why we should not include Taunt Ability in our lineup.
At the end of the first round, Runic Skyclaw took first position and and now had 8 speed.
The battle lasted 6 rounds and during 5 rounds the enemies attacked it 13 times and while 12 attacks missed it only 1 attack hit it.
No matter how powerful a Monster attacks its target, if it can't hit its target, its attack power doesn't matter, so I think it's very important to have a good defense in battles. This battle was a good example of that and that's why I wanted to share it with you, I hope you liked it.
