It's one cold night, and we have a plan - yep, we already planned it. Then I thought we'd end up postponing our plan because of the heavy rain, but lucky us because it stopped right on time. The plan was to go there at 4, but it was moved to 5:50 p.m., which I think is just the right time to have fun. And yeah, I was with Mama, as usual. She's my forever companion, you see. I am just glad that she is more outgoing than me and enjoys events that usually happen in public places like the park. Because if it's just me, I will never go outside, and I will choose to get stuck in my room because thats what I enjoy the most. How about you?
And now about the plan, it is December 13, our honorable mayor's birthday. It is already a tradition here in a bansud that the mayor's birthday would be a "Palugaw Day." That's just what we called it because they have free lugaw or rice porridge ready to serve for everyone. It's not just a plain lugaw because it has chicken meat, and you'll also get boiled eggs, which go really well with lugaw. It's just a simple food, actually, anyone can just make it. But what makes it special is that everyone can have it. Everyone can eat it. Even plain Lugaw can cost something now, you know. But this one is for everyone. FREE!
We all look forward to it because they serve a quality Lugaw, which is almost the same as the one they serve in some eatery. And actually, aside from the free Lugaw, you can also enjoy some small events here. Like last week, there's a live band who serenade the Bansudeños. So while eating our rice porridge, we are also enjoying the live band. But anyways, look at all these people who's holding a paper cup. But before that, we had to queue in a long line first before we could get it. We got so busy on the other side of the park that we almost missed the free Lugaw, lol. But waiting is all worth it because I enjoyed their hot and spicy rice porridge with egg. So tasty!
So after minutes of waiting, almost half an hour, we finally have it in our hands, lol. It might look so plain, but oh, I love the taste of it. And its spiciness - probably came from ginger and pepper soothes my itchy throat. It's the best! It is really just so hot it's hard to eat it. And seriously, Lugaw, or rice porridge, is the best when it's raining or during a cold day. I can eat this forever. Mama is encouraging me to go back to get another cup, but I told her I am already full.
Here's the band who performed that night. I don't know their band name, but I love the voice of the vocalist. They are playing Ulan of Rivermaya, and that song is really a perfect song for rainy days, like: ...ulannn, At sino'ng 'di mapapasayaw ng ulannn...
We had a super fun night, that's for sure. And not just us but everyone who's with us here. Everyone is having a good time, some maybe just came out of their work or the students from their school, and after a long day, here they are having the best moment. I am really glad we have this kind of event every year.
After spending an hour in the park, we then decided to go home. It's a short time to see everything in there, but we can always just come back. At least we can do other things during our next visit.
