I am a great lover of movies. I watch all kinds of movies, romcoms, sci-fi, horror and so much more. You name it and I’m there.
What I love most amongst movies is one with a great storyline that could keep me glued to my screen. There are some amazing movies that I could watch and rewatch and I would never get tired of watching them.
I am also a great fan of movie series. I can watch a good movie series no matter how long it is. I can also be very patient when it comes to a good series even when it's still ongoing.
Just like everything, we all have our different taste when it comes to movies as well. A movie that I might find very interesting might seem so boring to another person probably because they are not into that kind of genre. But then, the fact remains that not all movies are great and everyone's view about some movies also differs.
For this prompt, we are to write about a movie we love but others do not. One of the movies that came to mind was “Deadpool”.
I recalled watching this movie with my hubby some years back. It was one of those times we finally have time for a movie night after being busy with work for a while and it happened to be my turn to pick out a movie. I gladly picked Deadpool as the movie of the night.
Firstly let me state it clearly that I am a fan of super heroe movies. Once the movie hints of a super power, then it will get me hooked. This is one reason why I like Marvel movies a lot. So it wasn't difficult for me to choose Deadpool as the movie of choice that night.
I was pretty excited to watch this movie with my hubby because we rarely had time to watch movies but to my surprise, half way into the movie, hubby had dozed off. I quickly woke him so that he would not miss the action but he shook his head and said ”Where Is the action here?”. I tried narrating all the parts that he missed but he still insisted and said ” This one that is doing like upcoming spiderman”.
I was speechless but I couldn't do anything as I hoped some scenes that got me jumping off my seat would have the same effect on him(maybe not jumping off too, but…you know) or make him see how much I am enjoying the movie but the whole thing seems to bore him more. I finally allowed him to sleep while I alone indulged in watching the movie. Talk about *Netflix and chill alone 😁. I really can't understand what he disliked in the movie.
I even asked that he watch the movie alone at a later time. Maybe he would at least like some parts of it, he did and his review remained the same. “The storyline was so basic, nothing new to see here”, he said while I looked at him like “Are we talking about the same movie?”
First off the lead actor Ryan Reynolds is a pretty comical and “sick” guy. I mean what's not to love about him?. Even though he was tricked by someone who promised to help me cure his cancer, it turns out he was being experimented on and he almost lost his love. Though things turned out pretty good in the end, wouldn't you say?
Well I can't say the same for the second installment though. Yes, I went ahead to watch the second and liked it as well.
I also like the fact that deadpool is a spin-off of the X-Men film series. All the action scenes were cool and got me thrilled. I really wished my hubby could have enjoyed the movie like I did but he is used to soldier films more, not like I hate them or anything,i also love action packed movies but I guess we can't all have the same reviews for every movie we watch.
