A mama is proud to watch her children accomplish things! I am a silly proud mama to watch my boy take part in activities around the house, especially cooking. It is a trick to make him stay in one place while I am preparing food. If I can't get him involved with something, I need to run behind him to make sure he is safe and id not trying to set the house on fire or electrocute himself...
Here we're making vegetable patties!
We grated the vegetables together, he held the zucchinis and carrots with me while grating and he also added the flour in the mix. Then, the best part came...
MIXING!!
That's his favorite. He likes to watch the ingredients getting mixed up, he picks his spoons up and examines the strange texture, he even puts his finger in the bowl to taste some. I never let him do so when raw eggs or meat is in though. I never let him come close to the cooking pots and pans either, as I don't want him to get burnt.
I forgot to take some photos of the final result but... do you want the recipe for the patties?
- 2 medium zucchinis
- 2 medium carrots
- 1 medium tomato
- 5 eggs
- 200 gr feta cheese
- 1 tsp baking powder
- peppermint (fresh or dry)
- black pepper
- salt
- all-purpose flour as much as it takes until you have a thick batter (not dough)
Grate the vegetables, strain them and mix them with the rest of the ingredients. Fry in hot vegetable oil until they get a nice golden color and serve hot with some extra feta cheese on the side or a cool yogurt dip.
