“All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking.” - Friedrich Nietzsche
These are genuine words said by Friedrich. His words echo in my ears as I walk down the streets. Thoughts always find their best way to play with you, but once you are infused with nature, it finds a different way to approach you. Nature makes it a lot better. Walking heals the mind, or so I firmly believe.
I started my day thinking about the beginning and ending of things in life. As life is temporary, things fade away. It is just a matter of time unless we truly understand the meaning of life and death. While thinking about such things, I wanted to go out for a walk but the sunny morning is not my type. It was blazing hot outside. So, I waited till I got the perfect time to exit my house. While thinking about absolutely nothing but walking, I took my phone to live life on the street for some hours.
In the streets of Dhaka, Bangladesh, it is not very common to move around with your phone in your hand for taking pictures. It is still a very new thing for the people living here. It is a very backdated and common thought that street photos are only taken by news reporters and people from the media. When common people like myself go on the street taking out my phone, I find myself insanely famous without any substantial reason.
Interestingly, the night was young but the number of people on the street was minimal. I just remembered a strike was going on today. Maybe that is the sole reason the street was more serene than normal. For the past week, I am living with a friend of mine in his home. It is cozy at his place and today, when for the first time I went out alone in the streets, it felt interesting. New place, a new vibe.
The street was vacant unless I came near the marketplace. I have heard previously that this is the most noisy street available in Khilgaon, after the Khilgaon bazaar. All food restaurants reside here in Taltola, where everything is pricey per my friend's words but a million places are available to stick out with friends for long hours. I said my friend, I wouldn't get carried away so I did not get much to explore. From the much I did, this place is full of colors. Neon lights brighten my vision. From food stores to clothing stores, all were busy and equally crowded.
Maybe that is why it is said that the street is a mediator. A mediator to connect all the amazing places in the world. So, getting too much light was not enlightening my mood so I was typically searching for an isolated vacant road.
Oh! I was planning to write about this for about a week but I kept on forgetting about it. Do you see this car, isn't it amazing? I have shifted to Dhaka for about 9 years now, and after such a long time, recently I see such posh cars in the street. Such cars weren't available before at all. I still remember watching only blank and white cars. It is only recently that the car market has broadened its products and has made them available.
The same is applicable to motorcycles. The number of motorcycles has increased intensely during the pandemic lockdown.
It is not a surprise at all that the government has provided a lot of services and opportunities to the general public. It has made life easier and crowded too. In-line motorcycles are kept in the street. It is a very common sight and I am surprised that the streets here are fairly wide.
The next view totally captivated me on the spot. I was contemplating whether to stop and take a good photo or just cross it by and take a sudden, unpredictable photo. After a little thought, I decided to give some time and effort to this place. This is such beautiful street wall art that I have seen lately, especially with such high-definition meaning to it.
Nearing the end of my journey, I was captivated by the beautiful building decors and I thought to at least get a picture of one of them to show it to you all. This place is very local but this is Dhaka city after all. The night is always young and awake. Everything may not be posh and beautiful but among many a few treasures always exist.
I woke up in the morning to write a post only to find myself digging to post here, in this community, and now in the early morning of the next day, I am writing this post. My heartfelt gratitude forwards to @tattoodjay who made this amazing challenge, #WednesdayWalk, and this community. Every Wednesday is now going to be a little unique. Thank you.
