Hello everyone, how are you all? I hope you all are doing well and i am also doing good. I would like to share today few beautiful pictures of fungus that were found.
Case
A 55 year old male patient came to the hospital with complaints of hemorrhoids and swellings over right hand and right knee. Clinicians has removed hemorrhoids, swellings to histopathology. They are suspecting dermoid cyst on the right hand and right knee.
But we suspected fungal infection so we did special stain PAS -D. Then the Slides came as like this
You can see in the below images that fungal hyphae which are pink in color and i marked them with yellor circle and arrow mark.
Its important to go for special stains like ZN stain, fite faraco and PAS-D stain if we have suspicion of any infection. We can see them in special stains.
Treatment is different for different organisms. For example acid fast bacilli anti-tuberculosis drugs used. For any fungal infection we will start anti fungal drugs.
As we are reported about fungal elements, this patient was started on anti fungal drugs.
