Some days are very interesting while others can be so stressful.
Today I had a mixture of both. I was meant to have a meeting for 9am and I had planned all my movement ahead of time. Venue, attendees, list of possible discussion etc. But as nature would have it, things seemed to be working off beat, even though I had planned well.
From past experiences, Mondays can be very busy but I have never seen anything like this! People were literally flocking the streets as early as 6am. There were only few public transports to attend them and there was still traffic because there were several private cars on the road.
I am suspecting that the fuel price increase in Nigeria is responsible for the scarcity of public transports and I wasn’t far from the truth as I overheard a driver complaining. The transport fare was very high and people were still struggling with one another to secure spaces.
You might be wondering how I got to know the much while all was going on. Was I monitoring through a drone or I had a bird’s eye view or some technology? Nope, far from it. I was privileged to be in a private car with a few other people.
As we journey through the traffic, something very funny happened. A woman carried a baby and this particular baby right in the same car for whatever reason, got attracted to me and stretched his hands to hold my well ironed shirt, I wanted to prevent this but in a funny way the baby smiled at me like he knew what I was about to do.
After a quick inspection of the hand, I allowed him to hold my shirt and the way he held it, it was as if he wasn’t going to let go. Even the mother smiled at some point giving me a funny look.
The funny thing I least expected happened, the child dozed off but didn’t let go of my shirt, he would wake up at intervals and look at my face then doze off again.
It’s as if the baby was passing a message but I decided not get it. I would have said he was telling me to expect his copy in my house very soon. Till now, the thought, the scene and the whole drama still makes me laugh.
After getting to my destination, I had to bid the lovely baby goodbye, so long drama king. I wasn’t expecting the next stress I faced today. The meeting attendees came way later than scheduled.
But in the end as I type about how my day went, I realize that today is a prototype of my daily lifestyle. Always filled with challenges and stress but garnished with joy and results.
