Although Music play major role in my life, I will still cast my vote for movies. I enjoy a lot of music and not a particular genre mostly when I'm working or relaxing. Good music speak to my soul and awaken my spirit. Also, music play a significant role in my worship to God. Through the Bible based lyrics, I learn the good tenets of a Christian and use it to praise God too but my vote still go for movies.
Movies have a greater way of educating and widen my horizon of understanding. Truth be told, most of what I learned is from movies. It is my best form of education. Most of novels, other read. I watched them as a movies and it still in the deepest part of my brain and will never forget it. Robinson Cursom was one of the books that I watch it's movies. The book has many pages and tiresome but in the movies which lasted more than two hours, I enjoyed it with my snacks and can still narrate the stories till now. This is what music can't do for me.
Classical and Epic genre of movies are my favorite. I learn more about the historical places and names. Get acquainted with their way of life and explore their view of understanding. A movie called Spartacus is a good example. I learn how the Roman's ways of life and how they treat others as animals or game for entertainment. There's one important lesson that I learnt from that movie is that whenever one failed to treat other well, they will revolt and destroy everything. Shunning false tongue and betrayal as it's products are dangerous.
Check out the nollywood, the second largest movie industry in the world after America's Hollywood. It is domiciled in Nigeria and it's influences are felt all over the world. They tells our stories and enlighten the world about our problems and challenges. They show us what usually the end results of evil and wickedness. For instance, most ritual films always end up when they are hurt at the end and their initial gains vanished. They are remain in more miserable lives. A good lesson for our youth and young ones.
However, I have learn more about my culture too. I watched countless times some of the documentary about Nigeria-Biafra war. The hatred that divide brothers and neighbor and turned them into heated enemies. The foreign powers used our lands as a fighting ground and many of brothers and properties where destroyed for simple cause. No wonder, History is removed from the curriculum of the education so that younger generations will not learn of time when everyone loves themselves and the root cause of our division and fighting.
Finally
Movies have taught me how the westerner Behaves and how their society works even though I'm in my room. Seeing is believing so all that I watched remains forever with me. Movies are powerful tool that should be harnessed to make more money, create job and educate others properly.
