Greetings!
As we all know that there's always a reason for things to happen, it's true indeed that there's a reason for something to exist. There are many things that has happened or exist, maybe in the past or at present. All these things did not just happened, they all happened just because of a reason which is best known to the originators of those events. As for me and from my school of thought, there's always a cause, and when there's a cause, effect will surely follow. The cause and effect pl principle as we studied in philosophy.
So, this little introduction will lead me to what I will call, " THE REASON FOR THE SEASON." As we all know we are in a season , a season introduced by a climatic change of harmattan in this part of the world where the weather is cold in the morning and a sunny afternoon come forth in the day time. A season where the street or let me say the entire environment is being beautify, a season where various homes put up various colorful decorations, a season of gift, a season of love, a season seasoned with the colorful red and white attire, a season where schools, churches, private and public establishments organized songs of lessons otherwise called carol, a season where a man called father Christmas share gift to the younger ones, even some adult are beneficiaries of his kind gesture, a season where with share love with our love ones, A season where we cook, eat, drink, wine and dine. What season is that? "THE CHRISTMAS SEASON."
Like i said earlier, the Christmas season is always heralded with funfair and celebration. But my question is that, do we know the REASON FOR THE SEASON? Are we celebrating Christmas accordingly? Yes, there is no way we cannot do our Christmas celebration, it not that I'm condemning the way and manner of our celebration, but while in the mood of the Christmas celebration, we should always remember the REASON FOR THE SEASON.
THE REASON FOR THE SEASON was heralded by the birth of our lord Jesus christ. And looking at his birth and his lifestyle while on the surface earth, we can see that everything about him from birth to death is about HUMILITY AND LOVE. Though there many other attributes that characterized Jesus life on earth, but this two things should strictly be adhere to in the course of our Christmas celebration.
The first reason as stated above which is humility should be put into consideration while celebrating ourselves during this Christmas season and this is because, Jesus came into this world in the form of man and with this singular acts, his show of humility can never be quantified. Also, while talking about the circumstances of his birth, everything about his birth was centered on humility. So, while celebrating Christmas which signaled his birth, we should celebrate with humility, I'm not saying will should be mourning, but there should be a reflection of what his birth portrays in our celebration.
Also, another reason for this season is love as being preached by christ while on earth, Jesus christ whom we are now celebrating exhibited great love. Even his heavenly father, God is love and that's why in John 3:16, he says," for God so love the world that he gave us his only begotten so." So, christ is a child of love. Everything is about love. So, while celebrating the Christmas season, we should know that the reason for the celebration is love. So, how can we celebrate In love? We can only celebrate in love when we extend our celebration to the needy, and the less privileged around us. We should preach the gospel of love through our gift and our kindness.
So, the reason for the season is not in the way we wine and dine, but through our humility, love and kind heart. By doing all these, We are showing the real reason why Christmas should be celebrated.
