A unique feature in any movie that has always grabbed my full attention is the idea of suspense mixed with mystery. I have always adored the idea of how things can turn out to be what you were not expecting. The factual understanding is that no matter how hard you try to decipher a situation or the complexity of an event, you are still far from the truth or what really happened. In other words, you could simply say I am a sucker for twisted suspense. Ideally, I wouldn't say it's entirely my doing but ever since I became a chess player and built a career out of it, I have come to the realization that things might not always turn out the way you want. You could start off well, and dominate for a long time but when it comes to launching the final blow, boom, that is where the heartbreak sets in.
Don't get so cut up in my story but all my intro is trying to let you understand is that I am a lover of murder mystery, especially in the genre of movies. My love for murder mystery didn't make it that difficult for me to conclude that I must add the recently released murder mystery movie, Glass Onion to my watchlist.
For starters, I became a fan after the first release titled Knives Out which had stars like Daniel Craig, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, and many others. Just like every murder mystery, the movie was based on the murder of a character and the journey to discover who committed it, which is where the twist and suspense come in. But one unique feature that distinguishes Knives Out and Glass Onion from every other murder mystery is the involvement of the character Detective Beniot Blanc played by Daniel Craig. He happens to be the best detective when it comes to solving murder cases and with an amazing track record to prove it.
Although all the actors that were involved in the first sequence, Knives Out, were nowhere to be found in the new sequence release, Glass Onion, Daniel Craig playing Detective Benoit Blanc was the only one to be found, probably because he plays an important role of who solves the murder mystery. Also, it will be absolutely unfair to rule out the fact that he is an amazing actor and he nailed the role.
Glass Onion focuses on the murder of a fellow crew member but what makes it more interesting to watch is trying to unravel who actually did it and who exactly died. What made me engrossed was the whole twist involved and how I was thinking towards a particular direction in trying to discover who committed the crime but boom another twist sets in. At some point, I just gave up the fight in trying to discover who the mastermind of the murder was before the end of the movie but damn the ending was quite not what I was expecting.
I would say check it out but don't keep your hopes too high in thinking you would discover who committed the murder before the movie comes to an end cause I promise you, you wouldn't get it right.
