Introduction
Hello everyone, I hope your day is going well. I recently wrote about How Hive offers alot of opportunities for content creators. I basically focused on myself as i didn't expect to find myself on hive. I've always said it am not a great writer, neither do i understand how to make a perfect looking article. Just like Eddiespino Implies, most people learnt On the Job. So in my first post here in this great community, I'd be describing my content creation process and I'd also write about some of the things that has helped me in my journey so far. I hope this article helps someone out there that is just getting started. There is no reason to give up on hive, maybe you could, just like i did some years ago when we were in STEEM. However, it's a different world now, it is full of opportunities. And yes, it doesn't really cost alot.
My Content Creation Process
I did more of video contents on my return to hive. I play chess and i do alot of chess videos. I also do some random Vlogs talking about my life and the things i find interesting.
IDEA GENERATION: One of the first thing i do is idea generation, I try to create a topic that am going to do a video on.
My ideas generations comes basically from my passion or by observation. I play chess, so it's wouldn't be so difficult to think of a theme when it comes to making chess videos.
Observing the environment also helps me get fresh ideas in creating a good video. Sometimes, my topics are gotten from the way i feel in general. Let's take a look at some of my videos content.
"What Does Christmas Mean To You"
Here, this is a video that i talked about Christmas, it was done during the Christmas period. Observing that the season is important to alot of people, That's what brought the idea. Pretty simple, right?
"Hive Chess Season 10, Round 1"
I play chess and record my self on camera, so i just upload the video after. Sometimes, I add some Analysis.
What exactly is my point? Ideas are everywhere. I get ideas for my videos by observation and from my passion.
Once the ideas come in, I think the rest is easier and is also fun
After Generating The Idea, What Comes Next?
Materials and equipments needed to facilitate the idea is what i assemble next. Most chess videos i use my PC, Webcam, light and my headset. While for regular vlogs, I use my phone camera and Lightstand.
Editing softwares
Most good videos are properly edited. Most times when i make a chess recording, I have to tweak some certain things, like the volume, the music and sometimes even cut the video. I try as much as possible to remove anything that would make the video look bad.
I use "Inshot" to edit my videos. There are alot of better applications, however i am used to how this works and i understand the app perfectly.
It is pretty much the same first step when i write. I generate my ideas. These days I've been writing about trending topics.
I don't schedule posts, I always write everyday. When i see something i can relate to, I write my thoughts on it. Sometimes i write about my passion too. Creating a blog for me involves me staying afloat with the trends because i love it when people can relate to my contents.
Editing Software For Images
I usually find it really difficult and time consuming looking for the perfect image for post. I could take an hour searching for a photo on the internet. Weird right?
I use Pixabay most times for my pictures. I just head over there and type what am looking for and scroll. Many times, I would get the "No results found" statement. I would then change the search words. If it continues, I would most likely just design a simple text for my cover photo.
I designed using Canva. It is pretty simple and easy to use.
Manual Inspection & MarkDown Style
The beauty of writing on hive is that you can design your format. Styling is something i try to improve on. It can actually be stressful to put these codes everytime, however, I think it is worth the stress.
Also, I'm not grammarian neither do i understand how to write perfectly. Before i use Grammarly when writing. But now, I just write then inspect later. Grammarly changes my markdown codes automatically which can be very frustrating lol. Anyway, I do inspect my write up after writing. If i make a mistake which i do alot of times. I edit it even if the post is up. Exceptions are times when i tag alot of people. Because they get notified each time i edit the post, I try not to edit it. So I general it's best for me to stay away from mistakes.
Tips For Newbies To Get Better At Creating Content On Hive
You probably might have gotten some ideas from my own process. However, here are some things i put into consideration too.
- Engagement:
Before I drop a post in a particular community, I do my best to comment and engage on other people's post. It is a very important Factor. Remember no one is a perfect writer? At least not me and you. So it's always best to get some attention for yourself by making quality comments.
Good thing is that there are alot of good authors on the Blockchain. I create a list that helps me reach alot of communities i love. Either way, I love to engage. You certainly won't be everywhere, however, you can at least start by engaging in the community you want to write in. I think it's a perfect start to creating a good content.
- Learn From Others:
Like i said there are many people that write very well on the Blockchain. Feel free to explore their styles and their writing format. You would in that way find a very good style for yourself.
- Own Your Content:
This is something i myself didn't understand when i got back to hive. The Blockchain gives you a platform to be heard. They want your opinion, Not someone else opinion.
It is not that hard to steal someone's work, that's the same way it's not that hard to create yours. If you can generate a topic, you would certainly be able to write something.
In Conclusion...
If i had made this post in video format, I would say alot more than i wrote here. That goes to show how much knowledge one can amass from Hive. I was a newbie yesterday trying to find a way around content creation.
I think i would make a video sharing more Analysis on content creation on hive, The things I've learnt and many more. For now, I would leave you to the things I've written. I hope it was helpful to someone out there.
I am @samostically,I love to talk and write about chess because i benefited alot from playing chess. sometimes i share my thoughts on life in general and i write about my love for hive!
I love to engage with others and i love communication.I believe life is all about staying happy and maintaining peace.
