We might be getting closer and closer to the end of the year but even if that was the case, the team has continued to keep on improving the game whether it was to fix some bug or providing more quality of life changes to adding new mechanics and features to the game. And with their most recent update, not only that they introduced new skins for the Winterfest, they also revamped the referral system with a new Ambassador Program which what I will be talking about in this post.
Praetoria Goes Winterfest Mode
Just after the December 11th maintenance, Splinterlands has made various changes in to some of the games skins, turning them into Winterfest themed. We can immediately see some of this changes as soon as we go to the game's Battle Page where we will saw new banners both for modern and wild.

Not only that, when we visit Gwen's Glint Shop to purchase some chest, we can see how the loot chest were now covered with snow. Because of this, even the opening of chest becomes somewhat refreshing into the eyes.
But most of all, new skins were also added on some Rebellion cards. This may be temporary and would only last until the Winterfest season but soon, we may be able to get this skins once the Glamour System was added to the game where eventually, we can use the skins we purchase to customize our card's appearance as well as add other benefits to it whether in a form of new ability or a boost on Glint.
Revamped Ambassador Program
Aside from the Winterfest Skins, another huge change that was made during the maintenance was the revamped of the referral system with the new Ambassador Program. This was in response with the updated DAO Proposal submitted by @cryptoeater which is based from @bulldog1205's idea and was passed by the community. In this new revamped referral system, there were two tiers by which the referrer can benefit from.
🔶SILVER TIER:
To qualify for this tier, the referrer would required to have at least 1 refer 1 person and upon them purchasing a Spellbook, both the referrer and the referee would get 500 credits each, making it a win-win situation for both parties. What's more is that for each referral, the referrer would get 5% of the referral's end-of-season Glint capped at 100% of the referrer's Glint for the season. This means that, having to refer new players will also help the referrer to earn more glint which they can use to buy more cards and other items on the Glint shop.
🔶GOLD TIER:
On the other hand, to qualify as a Gold Tier Ambassador, the requirement is to have at least 10 referrals who have spent at least $100 in purchases and rentals. This includes rentals and purchase that was made not only on the in-game market but also on 3rd party websites. The perks of being a Gold Tier Ambassador includes every perks of a silver ambassador as well as a 5% bonus for every packs that your referral has purchased. The referrer also gets 1% on every peer-to-peer transaction of the rereferral.
Few things to remember is that with this new Ambassador Program, the old referral system are now cleared and does not count anymore and that referral using alternate accounts is now against the game's terms of service. Meanwhile, the 5% bonus that the referrer gets on pack purchase as well as the 1% P2P transaction will be paid on DEC. There is also a Special Referrals Leaderboard for people to publicly view the efficacy of KoLs and reward our existing users who are taking it upon themselves to promote the game to the world. The leaderboard may include:
☃️ Total referrals
☃️ Total spellbook purchases
☃️ Total DECs earned
☃️ Total credits earned
☃️ Total SPS staked by referrals
☃️ Total rating of referrals
Furthermore, if the Ambassador Program is proved to be effective, it is said that prizes may be given either by the team or though a DAO proposal which can further incentivize players to introduce new people to the game. And that was it for my latest Splinterlands post. Even as we go through the end of the year, Splinterlands was still keep on pushing this new updates which I believe will be essential for the upcoming year once we finally push for the marketing of the game along with the ambassador program to help to market the game through word of mouth as well as from our very passionate influencers and content creators through different platforms. I was hoping that 2025 is the year where Splinterlands dominate the web3 space once again.
