Life as we all know it is so complex and complicated especially when it comes to dealing with other people around you. I mean even in a family, it gets complicated, and that too when extended family visits during holidays or festivals.
What I am trying to tell is that whoever tries to manipulate you or your dear ones, just stay strong and ignore the stuff that you do not agree upon.
For example, I play games online like splinterlands, rising star, and even solitaire when the internet is not on sometimes. Yea, you could call me weird because it does take some time for me to connect deeply to other people, and one wrong signal and I cut off those who I do not feel comfortable with. I guess that does make me weird but I kind of am like that.
So, what happened is that a few of my relatives kind of ridiculed me for spending so much time on the computer. It was not like I was ignoring my chores or duties in the house. I spend my spare 'me time' playing splinterlands and it has helped me so much in many ways. I will always be thankful for that. It is what it is. I blocked a lot of my relatives because their words hurt me and I cannot care.
I know that online friends cannot appear magically to be around but they are more than enough when I need them. I remember the time Bala send me funds during the time my state was drowned in floods. My own so-called relatives did not even offer us a stay till the water receded. So, there is that.
What I am trying to say through my experience is that nobody should give care to people who are toxic. It is better to stay away from people who harm you instead of trying to adjust. Adjusting one too many times leads to abuse and that is bad. One thing leads to another and before you know it, you will become a puppet in the hands of a person/s who do not want the best for you.

So, how do I escape toxic people from manipulating me?
- Stand up for yourself
- State your opinions
- Be brave and reply with confidence
- One life - love yourself first
- Do not be a slave to others
- Prioritize your likes (within reason)
- Do not consider yourself to be lower than others
- Do not compromise your values to gain the company of the popular
- Make sure you come across as kind and caring to others
- Respect from the right people means a lot
- Self-confidence matters
- Learn to say NO
Learning to say NO is very important. Otherwise, you could end up losing a lot. Whether it is giving money to some or doing a favor, do it only after considering all the possibilities and not just because someone pressures you to do so.
