One of my favorite strategies is using Astral Entity with Dumacke Orc. Cursed Windeku is really key to this play as well due to his ability to self heal as well as slow down the opponent which helps with Astral Entity provided evasive ability. In this post I will go deep into my strategy.

Astral Entity Based Strategy for the Opportunity Ruleset in Modern Diamond League Battle!

We have three rulesets in effect: Born Again, Equal Opportunity and Explosive Weaponry:

When I see a fairly low mana battle like this with only twenty three mana available I immediately think of four splinters: Dragon, Life, Death and Water. In this case Water and Dragon splinters are not available, so we have to choose between Death and Life splinters. Life is a very powerful spliter for the low mana, but because we have Born Again ruleset I chose to use my Astral Entity Strategy.

The Strategy

We have tree rulesets in effect, therefore all three should be considered for this battle. Sometimes there is a dominant ruleset among the three, but in this scenario all three rulesets are very important to account for.

Let's start with Born Again ruleset, for this ruleset Monsters like Dumacke Orc and Venari Marksrat are perfect. Dumacke Orc is great because when it is reborn it brings back all of his armor and is as good as new as his health is one to begin with. Venari Marksrat is perfect because of his martyr ability so if he dies twice he has a chance to boost his neighbors stats twice. He is also important due to his Shatter ability where he can take out high armor with a single shot.

Opportunity ruleset is also very important it means that Dumacke Orc becomes a magnet for all enemy attackers as he is typically having the lowest health on my team. Placing him in the back also protects against sneak attack. When he is in the back he normally can only retaliate, but in this case he also can attack himself due to the opportunity ruleset.

Explosive weaponry ruleset is at least as important as previous two rulesets. For this ruleset I like to use monsters with Reflection Shield ability. That is where Venator Kinjo comes in. I place him right in front of Dumacke Orc so that most attacks affect only Dumacke Orc. Also with the Opportunity ruleset Venator Kinjo can attack from any position. Venari Marksrat is also very important in this ruleset as it can be hit with a splash damage from the attack on the monster in the first position and die quicker.

Finally a key combination of the summoner Astral Entity and Dumacke Orc with Cursed Windeku is really important. Astral Entity equips all monster with an evasive ability and when it is combined with Cursed Windeku Slow ability a lot of enemy monsters start to miss which is great in general but is totally great in the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. Also Cursed Windeku self heals so he has a chance of surviving Venari Marksrat dying twich which would boost him twice. As we have an equal opportunity there is hope for Astral Entity resurrecting Dumacke Orc as well so that would make our opponent having to kill the Orc three times.

THE BATTLE

Our opponent went with the other (Life) splinter. And this is a serious opponent - one of the Baltazar Wizards these guys are tough and play all the time. So I would expect a serious matchup here!

In the first round we missed a retaliate with an Orc and they didn't miss any and scored every retaliate. Additionally we had a bad luck of using the resurrect from Astral Entity on the fiend instead of our Orc as I planned. So far a terrible start for our team..

In the second round we did hit all of our retaliates, but so did they! Not much in terms of misses for them... We are down to only three monsters and they still have five on the field. But let's see what our key monsters can do...

In round three they finally hit a miss, but so did we! And we are down to the last two monsters and they have twice our number on the field.

Round four was an explosive round for us! We took out two of their monsters without loosing any ourselves turning the tide of the battle dramatically! This looks like a win!

Round five was good and in round six we scored an important win that got us within one win from reaching Modern Champion League! 1086 Glint and 11.91 SPS tokens was also nice!
