A very nice surprise
This time I am bringing you a place outside of London. There are still a lot of places to explore but since I was out for the weekend and I had a little bit time to kill. I have decided to walk a little bit around and try to find a nice place to share with you all.
I was staying in Folkstone, a town in Kent. It was already the end of the day so it was not easy to find a coffee shop that was open.
Even in London, now it is difficult to find coffee shops that are open further than 5 or 6 PM!
This was one of the first places I have walked by but I didn't walked in straight away because I got more vibes of being just a restaurant and it was dinner time.
After walking around the town for a little longer I couldn't find any other coffee shops open, all the places I was passing by were bars or pubs and I was more in the mood of a warm coffee since it was a cold night. So I came back to this place and decided to give it a go, since when I came back it was still very empty.
When I got in I've said I was only looking to have a coffee and I was offered to sit wherever I wanted and the nice waiter that was there brought me to the table the drinks menu.
One of the things I have noticed about it is that they are really trying to get people to follow and most likely engage and spread the word about the place all over social media.
Efficient System
Something else about this place that I have loved was the system to call the waiter. Every single table was numbered and had a bell that allow you to call the person that is working in your section without waving, or calling them out loud.
I feel like this system can be very efficient and super helpful. Very simple for the customers and also very easy to control on the system for the waiter. I didn't got to use it since I only needed to put my order in and pay and because the place was so quiet they have seen when I was getting my stuff ready to pay.
The space inside looked really good. It is a very spacious restaurant with a lot of sitting area. Because many of the areas are booths it also give to all the customers some kind of privacy and separation from table to table.
Everyone want to be on Social Media
Now I have to call them out on this very tacky social media advertisements on the wall. I understand that in our times social media are important for businesses but since the place have such a nice and more woody and rustic type of decoration and vibe to it, this squares in the middle of the room don't really bring anything.
Other than that all the space and decorations, the tones and the way room is organised is really nice and create an amazing atmosphere.
Sometimes the details are important
We are all used to get our coffees with a small glass saucer, so when my latte was served in a nice, personalised wooden tray I was surprised. But once again this little details a lot of times make a difference and are these details as well the ones that will make people grab their phones to try and capture a cute photo of their coffee.
Also the fact that the coffee was served with a biscuit is another great and nice detail. In the past I would never eat the biscuits but nowadays there is something that I love about to have a biscuit with my coffee.
Have to say that when the coffee was served and I looked at it I thought this was a little bit too foamy for a latte and so I was not sure about how it would taste.
For my surprise the coffee flavour was really good. I usually don't enjoy at all lattes when they are too foamy but I have enjoyed this coffee a lot. From all the places I have been sharing lately, this was one of the most delicious coffees I have drank.
The "evil" sugar is back
But here we are again. The sugar cubes. If you have been reading my visits to other places you know that this is something I really don't enjoy. That I find really annoying and I think it should be banned.
What can I say, I just want normal sugar that is not super compressed in cubes and exposed.
To conclude, I have to say that I was happy everything in the area was closed and that in the end I have decided to visit Sunshine. Because probably I would have never had this delicious coffee, since this would probably be one of the last places I would enter because I have got more of a restaurant vibe than a coffee shop.
