PLASTIDS
Plastid are also membrane-bound organelles that only occur in the cell of plants and photosynthetic protists (algae). They are of three types. Chloroplasts, leucoplasts and chromoplasts.
Like mitochondria, chloroplast is also bound by a double membrane. The outer membrane is smooth while the inner membrane gives rise to sacs called thylakoids. The stack of thylakoids is called granum (plural=grana). Grana float in the innner fluid of chloroplast stroma. Chloroplast are the sites of photosynthesis in eukaryotes. They contain chlorophyll (the green pigment necessary for photosynthesis) and associated pigment are present in the thylakoids of grana.

پلاسٹڈ بھی جھلی سے جڑے آرگنیلز ہیں جو صرف پودوں اور فوٹوسنتھیٹک پروٹسٹس (الگی) کے سیل میں پائے جاتے ہیں۔ وہ تین قسم کے ہوتے ہیں۔ کلوروپلاسٹ، لیوکوپلاسٹ اور کروموپلاسٹ۔
مائٹوکونڈریا کی طرح، کلوروپلاسٹ بھی دوہری جھلی سے جڑا ہوا ہے۔ بیرونی جھلی ہموار ہے جبکہ اندرونی جھلی تھیلاکائیڈز نامی تھیلیوں کو جنم دیتی ہے۔ thylakoids کے اسٹیک کو گرانم (plural=grana) کہا جاتا ہے۔ کلوروپلاسٹ اسٹروما کے اندرونی سیال میں گرانا تیرتا ہے۔ کلوروپلاسٹ یوکرائٹس میں فوٹو سنتھیس کی جگہیں ہیں۔ ان میں کلوروفل (فوت سنتھیسز کے لیے ضروری سبز رنگ کا روغن) اور اس سے منسلک روغن گرانا کے تھائیلکائیڈز میں موجود ہوتا ہے۔
The second type of plastids in plant cells are chromoplast. They contain pigment associated with bright colours and are present in the of flower petals and fruits. Their function is to give colours to these parts and thus help in pollination and dispersal of fruits.پودوں کے خلیوں میں پلاسٹڈز کی دوسری قسم کروموپلاسٹ ہیں۔ ان میں چمکدار رنگوں سے وابستہ روغن ہوتا ہے اور پھولوں کی پنکھڑیوں اور پھلوں میں موجود ہوتا ہے۔ ان کا کام ان حصوں کو رنگ دینا ہے اور اس طرح پھلوں کی جرگن اور پھیلنے میں مدد کرتے ہیں۔
Leucoplasts arethe third type of plastid. They are colourless and store starch, proteins and lipids. They are present in the cells of those parts where food is stored.
لیوکوپلاسٹ پلاسٹڈ کی تیسری قسم ہیں۔ وہ بے رنگ ہیں اور نشاستہ، پروٹین اور لپڈز کو ذخیرہ کرتے ہیں۔ وہ ان حصوں کے خلیات میں موجود ہوتے ہیں جہاں خوراک کو ذخیرہ کیا جاتا ہے۔
