Looking back, something I needed from my parents but didn't get would be a complete family. Family means father and mother I love you which is pretty cool right if you didn't know this acronym. Anyways my family was missing the father hence the title of the post "Amily". No, this doesn't mean that my father died or anything. It just means that my parents were divorced mainly because my mom chose to go to America for a better life and future for me and my younger brother. Unfortunately, my dad decided to stay in Malaysia and due to the long distance and separation they later on got divorced.
So how did this affect me? Well, I grew up without a dad most of the time. I say most of the time because I did visit Malaysia during summer holidays and stayed with my dad during that time. Even though, there was some time with my dad, I still feel like I was a lacking a male role model in my life. I do stay with him now though in Malaysia! In addition to that, the family just wasn't complete without a mom and dad together. I guess I should just appreciate that they were both alive since there are some people that were born orphans or lost their parents at a young age.
Anyways the past is the past. They are both remarried now and happy and I'm happy for them. One thing I have taken from this experience is that that I would do my best to not end up divorcing my future wife if I had one because it would really affect the children and I wouldn't want any of my kids to go through what I went through.
