Short Introduction
This is my introduction post for Leofinance and of course I'm glad that I had the opportunity to do another introduction post. When I look back at my introduction post almost half a year back, I think it's so bad that I'm kind of embarrassed. If you're curious to see my first ever introduction post, you can click here. If you took a quick look, you can see that I've come a long way on the Hive blogging journey so there's a huge improvement from back then. Without further ado, let's get to knowing more about me.
About Me
Firstly, my name is Shawn; I can't share my full name though because that's dangerous! I don't want to get hunted down from any haters if I have any. Anyways I was born in 1996 so I'm a rat for the Chinese Zodiac. My birthday is on September 9 which makes me a Virgo. I think everybody hates Virgos because we ask a lot of questions sometimes and try to be perfect; does any Virgos feel this too please comment down below! I'm not sure about others but I feel if you look into the zodiacs they are quite accurate in describing the person at least in my experience.
If you were able to do the math, this means I'm turning 27 years old this year. I know I look young but that's the power of the Asian genes so don't be fooled! In a way it's good and in a way it's bad. It's good because we can look young even when we are older but it's bad because people will always ask us for ID to check whether we are old enough to buy alcohol etc. This was quite common when I was in America but now that I'm in Malaysia it seems like most clerks will understand this either that or they don't care as much.
My mom took me to America for a better future for me when I was 5 years old. My mom was a single parent that took care of me and my brother in a foreign country alone. She is the best and I love her for being able to give me many opportunities when I was growing up (I will probably dedicate a post to her for Mother's Day). Anyways back to me, I lived and grew up in California. I was bullied a lot when I was younger unfortunately because I was that short nerdy Asian kid. I was an easy target and that's just how it is sometimes. I feel these experiences played a role in why I'm not so social and trusting when it comes to making friends in real life. Imagine making a friend and then they end up becoming a bully. That's pretty traumatizing even to to this day I still remember it all. I'm someone that prefers having quality friends over quantity. Just have those good friends that would take one for the team. Those are the best friends you can have!
I kind of messed up in college because I was overwhelmed with studying and working at the same time. It was super stressful for me and I wasn't able to handle it. I'm not sure how people can do it but kudos to them. I worked for a few years at a grocery store but I thought to myself there was no way I could do this for the rest of my life. This made me decide to go back to continue my studies. I decided to study in Malaysia for a fresh start and I was able to live with my dad. I flew back to Malaysia in 2017. As I lived here, I ended up liking it a lot more than when I lived in California. I felt happier so that's why I've stayed in Malaysia. A lot of people still think I'm crazy but I think this was the right choice for me and I don't regret it at all.
As for my personality, I think I'm quite friendly and social when it comes to chatting online. However, if you get to know me in real life, I'm pretty antisocial and not that talkative unless I'm really close friends with you. As for my hobbies, I love sports mainly tennis and soccer because these are the sports I played competitively when I was younger but to be honest, I can play probably any sport and be decent at it. I also love gaming; I'm a gamer from a young age. I remember playing Super Smash, Pokemon, Call of Duty, League of Legends, etc. I still play games but I'm now more focused on web3 games such as Splinterlands, Gods Unchained, Skyweaver and Cross The Ages. It just happened to be that all these are card games. Hopefully in the near future, I will add some solid fps or moba games that are web3. I love music; I have a wide range of music and I share three songs every Tuesday so you can check out that!
Currently, I'm working at my dad's business helping him with backend things mostly from the computer. I'm also doing part time admin work for a Business Networking Club. I also consider blogging on Hive another part time but most of the money I earned here is pretty much invested back into Hive, Splinterlands or Hive related projects and maybe Leo soon as well which I will be powering up on this coming 15th of May. Aside from all this, I'm a guild leader of Forbidden Summoners in Splinterlands and I help manage New Bot Order and New Bot Order 2 for my friend/mentor @aruchard in crypto. I recently became a team member for an upcoming game called RaceValley; This will be a play to earn racing game on Hive.
Most recent picture I have of myself since I don't really like to take photos of myself
My Relationship With Crypto
My relationship with crypto is a crazy one. If I recall correctly, the first exposure I got to crypto was when I started playing Gods Unchained which I saw through an ad from YouTube that it was a game where you could play and have ownership as well as earn money. I was lucky enough to get in early and get that early aidrop of IMX and GODS. This was like worth over 10k USD at the time and I kind of wish I sold it. I was kind of greedy and it wsa my first time into crypto so I didn't know that it was a bullrun that time. If I knew all this back then, I probably would've sold it all. I still sold some luckily but I could've had a lot more money to work with in crypto if I sold all at the peak that time.
The second game I got into was Axie Infinity. This one still gives me nightmares and not literally just more like bad memories. Luckily I didn't really invest in this game and my friend got me to be a manager of a scholarship. I helped manage around 30+ players for this scholarship. Anyways this game wasn't sustainable and it crashed and burned and oh boy that was a big eye opener for me.
Now I'm really into Splinterlands and I have quite a decent amount invested in the cards and SPS. I started getting serious about Splinterlands after I got a scholarship in Balthazar Guild and I saw that the game had a lot of potential. It's been a crazy journey in Splinterlands. I went from playing a few accounts manually to botting all of them but I do play brawls and tournaments manually if I do play. You can join Splinterlands here!
As you can see I'm more into the gaming side when it comes to crypto and more towards the web3 gaming aspect. I definitely have few more games but I don't want to make my intro too long so I just covered the big 3 memorable points in my relationship with crypto. I prefer the gaming projects over those NFT profile picture communities projects like bored apes because I enjoy games and it's my passion. I think it's a dream to be able to play games and earn money. It has a lot of potential and I hope there's a web3 game that can do this sustainably and successfully in the future. Aside form all this, I do plan on building up on my portfolio on ETH and some altcoins though before next bull run (bull market) which was suggested by my mentor.
How Did I Find Out About Leofinance & Hive
I guess I can say I got into Hive because I played Splinterlands and Splinterlands is on Hive. If we talk about blogging though, I only got into it after @theawesonoso and @saydie told me about blogging and how I can use the earnings to get more Splinterlands assets. It also happened that I enjoyed writing and it would help me maintain my English so I thought I would give it a try and here I am. I also did blog before on blogspot but I was never able to monetize it so I think finding blogging through Hive was a way to relive my blogging days.
As for finding out about Leofinance, I did have some exposure because I would always see @princessbusayo on my following feed sharing all these Leofinance posts and how she's powering up etc. It made me curious and I did end up asking her some basic information so this was kind of how I got exposed to Leofinance. Honestly, I only really started to get into this community after the recent Zealy campaign was introduced which is giving away a 10k USD prizepool and 200k Hive Power delegation. If you aren't particpating, it's still not too late! Feel Free to join through my referral link here.
My Money Plan
I have a simple plan right now. At the moment, it's just to earn as much as I can and invest a fair amount into crypto as the market cycle is shorter and will give me higher returns than other types of investments of course with a higher risk. I feel it's a good time now to start accumulating in crypto since we are in a bear market. I know a lot of people say to diversify but I feel since I'm still young, I think it's okay to take this risk. I still have money in the bank to survive any issues of course. After building my wealth through investments into crypto, I want to eventually diversify into real estate, mutual funds, stocks, business ventures etc.
Thank You
Anyways that's all from me! Thank you for reading and sorry that it was super long and to be fair I cut out a lot or I feel like I could probably write a 10k research report on myself. I did try to link Leoglossary terms and not sure if I did it properly; I'm so sorry if I did it wrongly. It's great to be in this community and hope to get to know you all. Hope you all have a great day and weekend!
